“Maya” (do sânscrito) é um termo da filosofia hindu que se refere às ilusões da vida carnal que separam os homens de sua verdadeira natureza e de seus propósitos originais. Na busca da iluminação, a jornada humana consiste em desvendar Maya, encontrando em sua compreensão a verdade.

A composição "Ready to Wake Up" inicia-se narrando a escuridão da vida humana, mas desenvolve-se transformando a tristeza em uma mensagem de esperança e, finalmente, redenção.

To celebrate the fact that I now have more than 10.000 followers on my Soundcloud page I wanted to create a mixtape with some of my favorite tracks of all time that I used in the 48 mixtapes I thus far created. Lovers of Music! Here we go again, this time with a 2,5 hour live set I played at AfrikaBurn earlier this month. Being at AfrikaBurn is always such a highlight of the year for me. Being there with people I love and then playing for a crowd who really likes what I am doing! (Lucky me ;-)) This year I played for the Leopard Mafia on Wednesday and on Thursday for the Space Cowboys. The week before I played at another sold out Suikerbossie in Cape Town (thanks to Caroline/Karen to make that happen again). So I already had a nice warm-up for the South African crowd. I never have expectations before I play somewhere because I always want to go all-in with a blank mind. And so I did on this trip as well. But knowing what the crowd and atmosphere was the years before I always feel very excited to bring some nice pieces of music with me. Please listen yourself what happened during this sunset set. After ‘Follow The Sun’ we went into nighttime mode and although the temperature dropped my heart was heated by the love and happy faces I saw in front of me. Hasta La Vista and till next time! Last weekend I played a 4-hour set in front of a real-life audience for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis and it felt awesome! Me and my 30 person strong audience had been craving for a club night out with dance music and that substantially increased our shared experience :).

Since the guidelines of the Dutch government momentarily only allow 30 visitors with reserved seats to public events, I figured I'd change things up a little with this set.. For an intimate setting like this I prepared a Deep House 'concert', inspired by Antonio Vivaldi and his work 'The Four Seasons'. I divided the four hours playtime I was given into four seasons (starting with Spring and ending with Winter) and selected tracks that I associate with the corresponding seasons. If this concept does not make any sense, I hope that you will nevertheless enjoy this 4-hour mix of my favourite Deep House music!

This event was hosted by club @radionamsterdam, is made possible by the @houseofchi Collective and was streamed live on Quarantine Radio. Enjoy!
