Why sunsets so attractive?

It is all about the objective laws of physics and the subjectivity of our perception of light waves. Colors change as the light wavelength decreases. Of the visible to us, the “shortwave" will be blue light. It dissipates much more than the same red color. Simply put, red light is scattered less than others, and blue and violet more. This explains why the sky is blue during the day, and at sunset, it turns red, and sometimes even red. And all because red is the most “long-wave” light, which can penetrate through the thickness of the air when the sunsets. The larger the atmosphere you have to overcome the sunbeam, the redder the sunset!

The sun, passing a circle in the sky, does not change in size. But according to the sensations, it seems that at sunrise and sunset, it is still 1.5 to 2 times more than usual. In the book of M. Minnaert “Light and color in nature,” this psychological effect is explained: the apparent oblateness of the vault of heaven. We perceive the Sun and the Moon at the same distance as the sky surrounding them, so the low Sun seems to us many times farther than the high. Since its angular size remains the same, we unconsciously attribute to the Sun several times larger magnitude. The apparent shape of the sky is a determining factor in the apparent size of the sun.
