For some humans, music is and remains a minor matter, for Svenja Schieren, better known under her pseudonym SVENSØN, it becomes the central drive, the elixir of life and the cosmic journey for constant selfreflection, hunting the perfect beat as a life task. Anyone who thinks of SVENSØN as Smørrebrød and Køttbullar is definitely in the wrong club.

Born in Eschweiler in the year as the fall of the Berlin Wall, she grew up in a musical household. Strongly influenced by the music of the 70s, she discovered that certain songs can provide an ignition, can drive you to constant search for good music and new stuff. Her Disco- and Nu-disco-influenced sets differ and together they are full of energy.

Always floating and driving - funky, housy, fusion. Rounded off with a good shot of selected vocals, they conjure up an unforgettable groove in the heart of every dance floor visitor, leaving their face with a big smile on it. 

Svenja has played a few venues already, such as Ritter Butzke, Sisyphos (Berlin), Muna, Odonien (Cologne), Westhafen (Leipzig), Micro Festival, Rave On Snow and today we are very happy having her joining our little radio cosmos!

S H I M A N S K I  [@shimanski030 | Berlin, GER] grew up in Berlin, was shaped by her dancing mother and her bass-intensive dad (famous DDR musician). Naturally, music means EVERYTHING to her. Shimanski originally started with techno music in 2012. Today she enchants the dance crowd with disco music mixed with electronic elements, a lot of Italo disco, dark disco, indie dance and nu wave.

Since 2020 Shimanski has been a resident DJ of the @discobizarre crew, which is famous for their legendary shows every Saturday at KitKatClub Berlin. Since 2022 Shimanski has the chance to host one Saturday per month at the lovely basement of KitKatClub, where she invites many great artists from around the globe.

Dear listener,

Here the warm up opening set from the 6-day opening festivities at Sisyphos, Berlin in March 2023.

I had the honour of playing the very first records of the new season on my favourite floor with my favourite crowd. Here the recording. What I consider a proper warm up set and boy do I miss those slots sometimes. A journey through 40+ years of dance music with lots of personal favourites old and new. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Von Italo-Disco bis zu House entführt ANKA euch in eine Welt voller funky und bouncy Sounds.  Als Teil des Leipziger Kollektivs Italo Fundamentalo organisiert sie Partys in ganz Sachsen. Ihr Stil ist schnell und süß, immer verfeinert mit einer Prise Humor. Musik ist für ANKA in erster Linie Befreiung und Selbstermächtigung. Beeinflusst von Tanz und Gesang kuratiert sie farbenfrohe und genreübergreifende Sets - es geht darum, die Tanzfläche aufzuheizen und die Leute glücklich zu machen.
