They are taken from the movie Colors (1988) directed by Dennis Hopper. Intro is a conversation between experienced cop Bob Hodges (Robert Duvall) and his rookie partner Danny McGavin (Sean Penn). On the other hand, outtro is a conversation between Danny McGavin and his first rookie partner that he got after Bob Hodges got shot. 
Btw. the soundtrack of this movie was epic! It featured artists like Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Sly & Robbie, Rick James, Eric & Rakim...

After almost two years with no gigs and the fact I was playing the closing set of a two-week event, it would be gullible to expect a technically perfect set. Truth be told I was never technically a perfect DJ, I always compensated with passion and enthusiasm for music. 

I will quote Fontaines DC and emphasize that "love is the main thing". So, here are three hours of music I love, from trance to techno with psychedelic and hypnotic flavour. 
Shout-out to Marco Shuttle for releasing a techno track I can mix with Electrypnose. And apologies to Viagra Boys for destroying their "Just like you" song.

[ Trivia ] 
I borrowed my signature / slogan “Peace. Love. Empathy.” from Kurt Cobain’s suicide note. It’s no secret that I was a big fan of Nirvana even before the tragic end of the band's frontman. However, the idea to use the three-word signature was inspired by Michel Iseneld, who signed his Ntogn project with "Body. Mind. Spirit." I was pleased with the positive and practical effect of my signature and even more so with the fact that people labeled me as a hippie because they didn't know about the suicide reference. As a matter of fact, I used the same three-word formula for Mo:Dem Festival and its slogan "Love. Passion. Commitment."

Among many crazy and funny things I said (and did) this summer, one sentence glued to my mind: 

LIFE IS A WONDERFUL THING TO WASTE! 

I meant this in a sense of "how much of ourselves are we willingly suffocating to maintain the image THEY have imposed on us so that we can develop, progress and move freely?" Life's too short to maintain that image. Live your life the way you want. Your life is only yours, and if it makes you happy to "waste it", well it's yours to waste!

* Music genre of the mix:

After five or six years I played (almost only) a deep techno set at The Swamp, Mo:Dem Festival. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

In my process of overthinking I labeled my style of (writing and) DJ-ing as BRICOLAGE /ˌbrɪkəˈlɑːʒ/. In the arts, bricolage (French for DIY or do-it-yourself) is "the construction or creation of a work from a diverse range of things that happen to be available, or a work constructed using mixed media." This definition fully and realistically corresponds to what I'm creating, whether it is a text or a DJ set. This definition also fits my punk philosophy and aesthetics.

Recording of my DJ set from xXETEXx night at Hammahalle (Sisyphos), where I played from 04 to 07 on Sunday, 4.12.2022. and shared the stage with Josephine Wedekind, Herrmann Stöhr and Aka Nina. 

From my post, published on 23rd November:

"Rhetorical question. Did you know that for every story you share (with disgust, pleasure or disdain) about the success of a female producer / DJ in the scene that is based only or mostly on good looks, you ignore the majority of women on the scene. Women who have built their careers and success, apart from their good looks, only on persistence, hard work, quality, a good ear and excellent selection and technique. It is time that, in addition to insisting on gender equality, we also talk about the negative approach and attitude we have. 

With great pride, honor and happiness I will share the DJ booth with three women with a capital W who have made me dance, cheer up and laugh on more than one occasion."

All the love of this world goes to my friends - your love, kindness and support means everything to me.

A special greeting goes to my dear friend @lilianstark without him this recording would not exist.

Respect and gratitude to the people I shared the dancefloor with that night and my vision of music during part of it.

After Brazil and "Cuando los Ángeles Lloran" this is the second mix in the nation series. I will not waste my words on Japan, I will just say ninja and that is enough inspiration for me. Regarding the music; backbone of this mix is double CD compilation that celebrates 10 years of Zenon Records.

[ Title ]
Sakabatō ( 逆刃刀 ) is a fictional Japanese katana with its sharpened edge in the inward, curved side of the blade (opposite of a standard katana). It was forged by master swordsmith Arai Shakku and wasn't designed for killing. On the contrary, it was made in offering to honor the new peace that the Meiji Era would bring. It's wielded by Himura Kenshin and symbolises his oath not to kill again.

[ Inspiration ]
A lot of it came when I read an article about police evicting Amazon natives related to some constructing for next year’s World Cup. And I commented; "If Chico Mendes were alive today he wouldn't be silent!". And sadly nobody in my company didn't even hear about Chico... So this one is dedicated to the (IMHO) one of the most respected Brazilian that ever lived - Francisco 'Chico' Alves Mendes Filho. And especially to his wife Irâce and children Angela, Elenira & Sandino.

[ Title ]
I know it supposed to be "Quando Os Anjos Choram" in Portuguese, but I've taken "Cuando los Ángeles Lloran" (in Spanish) because it's THE title of Maná's song about Mendes... So apology to my Brazilian friends who may get offended. The way I see it Brazil can be a paradigm for whole Latin America.

This mix is kind of my personal retrospective; (small, small, small) part of things I used to play during the last decade of DJ-ing. 

[ Title ]
"Careful with That Axe, Eugene" is a Pink Floyd track - almost 9 minutes instrumental that makes you feel creepy after listening + title that puts even more creepiness into the experience. The idea came after listening to one (fresh) Sensient pearl called "Running With Scissors". Same relation of music aftertaste and title. Old school title for old school music philosophy.

[ Trivia ] I did the cover in my D.I.Y. manner. I scanned the cover of "Chained To Morality" LP. First and only album from Disaffect, a wicked anarcho-punk band from Scotland. The album featured their cover of 4 Skins anthem "One Law For Them".
