Advent – A coming, or an arrival, a coming into being or use. 

Quite an appropriate name for Cisco Ferreira, a man who has played a big part in the creation and development of Techno from the very beginning of this genre’s history. Indeed, his Techno CV is the stuff of legend. Cisco was producing Techno and performing live Techno shows years before the rest of the world had even heard of the genre. He released his first track in 1988, was a pioneer of the Live PA (or Live Public Address – performing Techno live in front of an audience using electronic music gear), and, if all that wasn’t enough, he even worked as the sound engineer on some of Derrick May’s, Adonis & Fingers Inc’s recording sessions! 

The list goes on, and so does Cisco. Unlike other Techno pioneers from the early years, Cisco continues to produce with as much passion and frequency as he did back in the day. His releases on Labels Like Tresor, Rotation, Electrix, Kanzleramt, Dj Gigolos, Pure Plastic, Synewave plus many more is just another example of his ongoing pursuit to keep making music and pushing Techno to new boundaries. 

Cisco was born to Portuguese parents on the island of Madeira (Portugal). His family moved to London (1975) when he was five years old, setting the stage for his musical career. While at Paddington College (1986) in West London, he studied sound engineering and secured a job after graduation as an assistant sound engineer at ZOLOU Then later WALL Studios.  

At this period is when he really started to learn about Sound & Production, his 1st main recording sessions as an engineer were rock & “Inde” based bands & the studio owners being in successful rock bands. Matt Dangerfield & John Payne “ASIA” this 1st step was a start in learning about balancing & mixing down the rock way, which had a lot of intense & Raw energy especially on drums & Guitars.. 

Other bands Cisco did sessions for: P.I.L. (John Lydon - sex pistols) – Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) – That petrol emotion. Then Later Pop, Dance, Soul & reggae groups like: Wild Bunch (Nelly hopper & Massive Attack) – Marco Pirroni (Adam & the ants) - Maxi Priest – Sly Dunbar (Sly & Robbie) – Loose Ends – Cheryl Lynn… 

1987 Cisco began going to clubs and learning about this new thing called Acid House, which was spreading like crazy throughout London’s underground scene, culminating in the famous “Summer of Love” in 1988, the genre’s golden period. 

Around this time, a record label called, Jack Trax, “One of the 1st to release Acid House, House & techno in UK” moved in next door and began using the same studio for recording sessions, with Cisco as the engineer working with Fingers Inc, Adonis, Marshall Jefferson & Derrick May. Cisco released his first record in 1988 on Ferrari records (R&S records) Then later “Cisco Ferreira” EP on Fragile. 

His first big break came in 1994, when he and fellow Londonite Colin McBean (a.k.a. Mr. G) were brought on by Internal Records to help co-produce a group called Salt Tank. A record contract with Internal/FFRR soon followed, committing The Advent to 12 EP’s and 3 albums.

Today, The Advent goes on just as Cisco Ferreira. While he has had a long history with tons of accomplishments to hang his hat on, he continues to make history. The Advent is fulfilling Cisco’s vision as much as ever. He is busy touring as both a DJ and a live performer, producing for numerous labels, and running his own Techno imprint, Kombination Research. 

As Cisco moves forward, striving to fulfill the ambitious goals he has set one can look back at his storied past and see how he has come full circle… The Saga continues.

Ricardo Rodrigues aka Industrialyzer, son of a musician, was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. At an early age of 14, inspired by his father’s profession, he started taking guitar classes. Two intense years later, he would already give classes in scales and music theory to young talent. Over the years to come, Ricardo joined several bands and performed at bars, concerts and festivals. 

At the age of 17 he would discover his true love to be electronic music. Starting as a bedroom DJ, he gradually started performing in Portuguese clubs as well. In 2000, Ricardo moves to The Netherlands to take a course in electronic music production. Amazed by the local techno scene, the decision to be made was quite simple: he decided to stay. New doors would open in 2003, when he became second at the I Love Techno DJ contest, and then again in 2005, by winning the Dance Parade Rotterdam DJ contest.

Parallel, Ricardo was also busy producing. He advanced and refined his sound, which didn’t come unnoticed. In 2007 also Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent discovers Ricardo’s talent. Not too long after that, Cisco releases Ricardo’s tracks on his Kombination Research imprint, followed by releases and remixes for artists like A. Paul, The Advent, Sven Wittekind, Christian Fischer and DJ Murphy. Towards the end of 2007, Cisco, Ricardo and a fellow friend Paulo Gomes start the CodeWorks label, which would with its first release immediately prove to be successful—selling out in one week. This new motivation pushed towards a new project: The Advent vs Industrialyzer.

With current releases on Drumcode, as well as the upcoming releases on MB Electronics, Beat Disaster, Theory, etc., the duo has a promising future, just as does Industrialyzer solo.

Techno, Acid, Breaks & Electro producer. Pioneer of Jungle Techno & Atmos DnB. 

RonWellsJS (previously known as Jack Smooth) is often credited as the pioneer of Jungle Techno, and an early architect of Drum and Bass, in particular the 'Intelligent' or 'Liquid' variant. He is the creator of Sound Entity Studio, which in the early 90s became a go-to facility for Dance Music producers.


During his career Ron has produced over 300 dance music records, spanning many genres. He usually focuses on creating his own chord structures and melodies using synthesizers, as opposed to relying on sampling the work of others. His music embodies an electronic, ambient techno signature with production standards that are recognisable as more 'polished' than typical underground dance music.


Ron Wells began his career at the age of 17 as a London Pirate Radio DJ in 1987 (Crystal, Medina & WLR), he then went on to form Wax Factory Productions in 1989. Wax Factory was one of the first UK dance music labels to deal directly with record shops, by not having a distribution deal. In years to come, Wax factory would earn cult status as an underground UK House and Techno label. Many, to this day, believe that Ron's productions were from the USA, due to their authentic Techno sound.

In 1991 Ron created Sound Entity Recordings to concentrate on forming the Jungle Techno sound he is predominantly known for. Key artists on the label were Smooth But Hazzardous, Hedgehog Affair, Jack Smooth and 20 Hurts.


In 1992 Ron masterminded, co-wrote and produced Trip to Trumpton with Urban Hype, which became a top 6 Hit (UK National Charts) 

Throughout 1992 to 1994 Ron produced (and on most occasions co-wrote) releases 3-35 on Basement Records and he quickly took this unknown label to class leading status. Differences of opinion on how the label was being managed eventually saw the demise of the relationship.

 
In 1993 Ron formed Fast Floor Productions with Paul Clarke where the two focused on adding more compositional structure to the Jungle Techno scene and further developing its transformation into Drum & Bass. In order to experiment further with Drum & Bass the two formed Earl Grey 1995 which was signed to MCA music publishing and Carl Cox's Ultimatum label.


In 1996 DJ Dr S Gachet invited Ron to join him in producing a 2-hour mix for BBC Radio 1's One In The Jungle show, which was aired in December of that year.

Ron has also co-owned Dance Nation Radio, which was broadcast Europe-wide on Euronet Sky Sports Audio Channel 6.

Responsible for the production of many classic UK Hardcore records throughout the early 90's, Ron's style of production is said to be instantly recognisable.
