This song attempts to pay homage to a side I've only learned of Albert Einstein recently enough and that is his interest in consciousness and us psychologically. Although it's obviously not what he's most famous for he seems to attribute some of his most important truths to your mindset and that the universe unfurls itself whatever way that mindset is and by the mood of what it absorbs and projects. I'm probably filling in some gaps there...

I feel given the prevalence of so many conspiracy theories most likely confirming the hostilty in peoples heads and in turn those people finding that via their self honed internet algorithms, maybe a good few of us could do with learning that possible truth about our heads. His hunch is kind of confirmed by modern neuroscience and psychology with the discovery of how we actually rewire our brains via neuroplasticity
and we can effectiviely train mindsets in and out of ourselves. Most of the bias ones just make it in their the same way even if their grounding can be questionable such as conspiratorial thinking

The "To be or not to be" is a reference to the Shakespeare character Hamlet, where Hamlet ponders how death may be preferable to his suffering, yet for the fear of what lies beyond in the afterlife or lack of a life after death. I think the fallibility we show in the fear of death is fascinating and personally where I think we have evolved the ideas of god and heaven and hell etc... I wonder will we only truly find a proper understanding of empathy for ourselves and each-other when we transcend those fears and start living for life as opposed to generating unprovable realities to look forward to beyond the lights getting switched off permanently.

The pic is my amateur attempt at recording the aurora borealis when it was visible from Ireland earlier on this year for the first time in my life. My most interesting memory of it is what was visible by the naked eye and the phone camera was pretty noticeable and showed me clearly the spectrums we don't see around us all the time quite clearly. The phone picked up the wave lengths much more clearly then my eyes it seems...

Merry Christmas Folks!!  The Christmas season brings with it many different emotions and expressions. Pure joy and excitement, laughter and fun.. each moment has a role as people gather and celebrate. Nat got this particularly fun idea to create a "swing thing for us to sing" and we hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did recording it. This is our third and final Christmas song for 2025. This song began its life when Chris put ass to chair and came up with it a while back. This is the latest of the massive song collection he laid on Eclectic Collective about a month and a half ago. Be prepared to hear a lot more of his songs coming through our fingers and voices, because we now have a plethora of great material from him. So, Chris came up with this arrangement on his acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and synth, but it was a pretty solid composition, even by his standards, and it had the magic already baked in.
The first one of us to grab a hold of it was Carl, who immediately heard his vocal part, which he supplied with his always striking lyrics. JJ was the first instrumentalist to add his part, laying in the delightful organ, electric piano, and synth you hear throughout. Josh came out swinging next, adding his upright bass, which he bowed. Mark came along shortly after, adding his dramatic timpani, enchanting steel pan, cool triangle, arpeggiated synth, and synth effects to the mix. He also did some major editing, making room for Stephen's guitar solo, and adjusting some parts at the end. Mark also added some backing vocals, quoting George Harrison's Here Comes the Sun. If you listen closely, you can hear his Easter eggs in there.
At this point, the song sounded almost classical, especially Josh's bowed bass part. However, Ken still had something to say in here, adding his remarkable, driving drums to the whole thing. Josh, recognizing the sea change this created, added his fretless four-string to match Ken's kick. Stephen was able to blend the two in the production phase. But not before installing his absolutely thrilling electric guitar solo in there. Stephen did a wonderful job of producing, mixing, and mastering this for us, as always, when it was all in the can.
This is the first song Carl has gotten to sing that Chris has written. We're all super excited to unleash this combo on the world. This song reminds Josh of one of his favorite bands, The Flaming Lips, too, which makes it a special treat for him, as well. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

'The Green Room'  A room in TV studios for guests and artists etc to relax whislt waiting to be on set. Soft ambient music, playing in the background encouraging a calm atmosphere.  So this track is my memory of being in one of these rooms whilst waiting to play.

VANCRYNES is committed to capturing the immediacy of the songwriting process and moves quickly to capture songs as the moments of creation are fleeting 'I just want to get a general sense of the song recorded and move on to the next one.  If the songwriting is strong enough, then I hope it will carry through the more casual production approach.  My production is very loose'.  

Keeping it fresh and committed to the creative practice of songwriting, VANCRYNES sticks to a blistering regime of writing, producing and releasing with more than 100 songs completed in 2022 and that frenetic pace continues today.
