Gary de Sesa, composer, pianist and conductor, is graduate of the Juilliard School, where he received his B.M., B.S., M.M. degrees as a scholarship student and was awarded a teaching fellowship for four consecutive years.  He also received his Ph.D. in music from New York University and was elected to Kappa Delta Phi and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.  His studies at New York University were dedicated to the works of Leonard Bernstein, and culminated in a dissertation and concert performance of Bernstein's Mass in Merkin Hall, which de Sesa conducted from the piano, and which Bernstein, himself, called "a labor of love." Like Bernstein, Gary de Sesa is an eclectic composer, as well as a pianist and a conductor.  He has written sacred and secular; choral and instrumental; contemporary, jazz, theater, and classical music.  In April of 1992, he was invited to Moscow's Tchaikovsky Hall and other major concert halls of Moscow, to conduct the Osipov Orchestra and the Moscow Boy's Choir in a performance of his Anthem for a New Russia, along with other original compositions.  His works were broadcast throughout Russia on Russian national television and radio.  He was accompanied by his wife, soprano, Kita Bouroff, and his then ten  year-old son, Gary, a violinist, both of whom also performed extensively. In a concert at Alice Tully Hall featuring some of de Sesa's compositions, New York Daily News critic, Bill Zakariasen cited the use of sensible scoring, and raved, "the audience love it-nothing more accessible has been written within memory." As a concert pianist, Gary de Sesa has performed in all the major concert halls in New York City including Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall.  During past summers, he has appeared at the Caramoor, Ambler, Aspen and Siena music festivals.  He was first-place winner in the prestigious Bach International Competition and Mason and Hamlin Competition.  Gary de Sesa is a published author and was a recent winner of the Columbia Records Recording Artists' Search, cited for his "unique talents as a performer, and his musical quality, distinctiveness and depth of expression."  As a conductor, Gary de Sesa has been associated with the Juilliard Chorus, the Columbia University Glee Club, the Collegiate Chorale and the American and New York Opera choruses.  He has also acted as Associate Director of the Manhattan Borough-wide Chorus and has been a guest conductor of the Southern Indiana Orchestra and Chorus and the Moscow Osipov Orchestra.  Gary de Sesa is Organist and Choir Director of both Temple Beth David in Commack and the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, where he continues to compose Jewish and Christian music, respectively, for the worship service.
