Spearheading the way in musical journeys with a deep and atmospheric feel, here is a perfect example of the evocative stories Backdrop is known for. It is also, for us at least, a spirited celebration of a musically rich summer and an increasing number of intimate techno, experimental and ambient festivals around the world uniting music and nature in the most perfect of ways (Parallel, Tundu Open Air, Harmony Open Air, Modem et al), most of which he has performed at himself. No surprise there.

Like so much music we're finding ourselves drawn to these days, his is a sound which feels like it's in tune with the vibrations of the universe, the deep, richly textured grooves, mellow underlying baselines and glistening percussions pulsating with life's energy and the magic of connectivity. With releases on the likes of Semantica, Hypnus Records, Mental Modern and Prologue, to name but a few, Backdrop is a dedicated studio dweller, forming strong bonds with multiple synthesisers over the years in order to develop the Alan Backdrop sound his loyal followers have grown to love.

With a London appearance coming up at Pickle Factory on September 22nd when he joins On the 5th Day regular Anthony Linell, immerse yourself here to simply reconnect, or to get a feel for what's in store.

Today we are promoting Vanta, originally from a metalcore and hardcore background, the electronic and experimental music grew into him over time. 
His influences come from the techno scene in Leipzig, Germany, focusing on impulsive rhythms, dissociative
sounds and dark and eerie atmospheres. As a founding member of PVC he is also co-organising raves in clubs and
woods around the Leipzig area and working his way into the local scene.

He|Him

Marvin Hoyer aka Vanta based in Leipzig, is an artist who navigates the space between raw intensity and hypnotic sound design. Originally rooted in metalcore and hardcore, he has always been drawn to the realms of electronic and experimental music. Exploring the unknown through impulsive rhythms, dissociative sounds, and dark, immersive atmospheres, his goal is to captivate listeners with his productions, DJ sets, and live performances.

Since 2019, Vanta has been shaping his distinct sound within both the local and international scene, releasing on labels such as Charybdis, Further Sessions, KVLTÖ Records, and Deflection Music, among others. His productions reflect a deep fascination with raw energy, hypnotic structures, and sonic contrasts—merging intensity with precision.

In late 2024, he became an official member of Munich-based IO Records, finding not only a creative home but also a like-minded community. In 2025, he joined Leipzig's aequalis crew, known for its influential event series that once defined the sound of the late Institut für Zukunft and now continues to evolve beyond its former home.

With a vision that bridges genres and defies conventions, Vanta remains committed to pushing sonic boundaries—always seeking the next unexplored space in sound.
