AJ McKinley is a fellow from San Francisco who plays lots of instruments and writes/records lots of songs. "And I Was Like" is his debut EP.  

Using artists like Brian Eno, Kurt Vile and Reggie Watts as jumping off points, the music was composed/performed/recorded using only a bass, vocals, a looper and a drum set. All "guitar-ish" or "synth-ish" type sounds/solos were created through effects and pitch shifting on the bass.  

AJ is co-founder of Shape Shifting Psychedelic rock band BATTLEHOOCH and has also recorded/produced/played with many other Bay Area groups including Growwler, Maus Haus, Vanwave, Bear Lincoln, Cash Pony, Kendra McKinley and more.

Hailing from San Francisco, Vanwave’s sound is that of the modern sirens call, infused with electric guitar leads, and folk inspired harmonies. Their dreamy sound is a result of their native northern and southern California roots. Most recently they’ve added member Allison Kane on keys and now have Sea on percussion, creating a special dynamic between four leading women.

Gracie and Rachel press back on the boundaries of pop music, their catalog marked by hauntingly spare arrangements, bold, baroque flourishes, evanescent vocal stylings, and penetrative lyrical tact, drawing wide-ranging acclaim from tastemakers including NPR, FLOOD, Flaunt, SPIN, TIDAL, Talkhouse, and American Songwriter. They’ve performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk and shared stages with the likes of Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, and most recently, Jesca Hoop. Nowhere Now Here honors those sonic elements foundational to Gracie and Rachel’s sound, and elevates them—a melodious new vigor coursing through the tracklist, ranging from pointedly delicate to tenderly anthemic.
