"Rising out of Sri Lanka's electronic underground is Serendeep. Of significant origin, the label's name is derived from the word 'Serendib'. A term given to the country by the Persian Empire during their reign many years ago. Founded by Danidu & Hasith, Serendeep is a digital imprint created with the intent of further invigorating the country's electronic scene, while also creating a greater presence for it on a global scale. As an open concept, Serendeep looks to nurture new talent from the country's pool of up and coming producers, while also playing host to key international artists. Deep and melodic in ethos, it seems only appropriate that the label's inaugural release come from one of Sri Lanka's brightest stars in Subandrio. The Colombo resident got his career off to an amazing start in 2015 with an EP for Cid Inc's Replug Records. It was this showcase that paved the way for his now distinctive and much loved sound, as he then went on to appear on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Now widely regarded as one of the scenes foremost talents, Subandrio begins 2019 with 'Moas Gone' alongside a remix from Hernan Cattaneo & Audio Junkies.

The lone interpretation of 'Moas Gone' is provided by Hernan Cattaneo & Audio Junkies who are a production trio that needs no introduction. Hernan Cattaneo is one of the world's most beloved DJs and his Sudbeat Music imprint is widely regarded as one of the best in its field. Audio Junkies are a Tel Aviv based production duo who have been crafting unique and inspiring electronic music since 2006. Appearances on Diynamic, Sincopat, Suara and Sudbeat highlight their meticulous discography, while they continue to travel the world showcasing their unique DJ skills. Having previously collaborated on remixes for Henry Saiz and Monkey Safari, Hernan Cattaneo and Audio Junkies now begin 2019 with a stunning rendition of 'Moas Gone'. Smooth, spacious and meditative its borderless approach is fresh and dynamic. Warm undulating bass, meandering atmospheres and heartfelt musicality highlight the first act, before smooth chord changes and soulful wails shift energy into a glowing finale. Taking a cue from the original the trio have crafted a timeless beauty that's sure to cross over into a broad range of DJ sets. Since 1997 when Kasey Taylor founded Vapour Recordings, the label has gone on and forged itself an enviable reputation, not only as one of Australia’s leading independent dance labels, but the worlds too.

When you feast your ears upon a new Vapour Recordings Ep, think of it as forward thinking dance music. If there is one defining feature of a Vapour record, it’s that it is just a little ahead of its time. The sort of tune that the average person might put back on the shelf, and then later on hear it out in a club and kick themselves because they didn’t realise how damn good it really was at first listen, and because they knew they had just let a gem of a tune slip right through their fingers.

July 2011 saw the label reach it’s landmark 100th release. The clock was wound back for this one choosing artists from the past, present and future to remix the back catalogue. The package contained some fantastic names, with remixes from the likes of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Luis Junior, Jamie Stevens, Peter Horrevorts, Nick Warren, Dousk, Rodskeez, Fiord and many more.

There are DJs in the world who have vision. Those who can pick up a sound before it becomes popular and break it to the masses. Names like John Digweed & Hernan Cattaneo spring to mind, and Vapour releases have always found their way into the record boxes and charts of these luminaries. They are attributes that Kasey Taylor has also.

It isn’t easy to turn heads in the underground dance music scene when you are a small record label operating from the ass end of the universe! It’s harder to slip promos to DJs and radio station reps, magazine editors and so on. There’s seldom a chance to drop your own track in front of the big name DJs to prove just how effective your music can be. With that in mind, it’s a real credit that Vapour Recordings has earned a spot as premiere labels on the global market, commanding the attention of all the industry heavy weights through nothing more than releasing quality tunes. No huge advertising budgets, no massive PR campaigns, no industry schmoozing, no shit talking, no sales driven drum rolls, no poxy synth lines – Just a talented collective of like minded artists doing it well from around the globe.
