He’s a total geek for those old black-and-white detective films, gobbling up that smoky, mysterious vibe like candy. We were curled up together, watching one of them for the hundredth time, and I swear I caught him eyeing me like I was the femme fatale on screen.

Before I sang it, he surprised me with a red dress. Dazzling. Old-Hollywood. The kind of thing you'd wear under the low lights of a crowded jazz bar. When I walked out in it, he just stood there ogling — like the crowd does in the song’s club. It made me feel like her: the mysterious singer on stage, draped in red, watched by strangers who imagine they know her.

And he… he was just one of those men in the dark, watching me sing. Honestly? That helped me get into the song. It blurred the lines between us — between me and her. And truth be told… I kind of liked that he didn’t look away.

He’s always had a thing for old vinyls. A real collector. He even renovated his gran’s vintage record player — lovingly, like it was a classic car. Honestly, I think that thing might be his second girlfriend now.

I’ve caught him in his office with the lights low, wearing a suit and that old fedora, sipping whiskey, and letting the crackle of vinyl fill the room. It’s like he steps into a noir film every time he listens. He says he likes “noir themes and girls.”

Am I a little jealous of that gramophone?
