Foremost techno label !Organism continues in its fine run of recent form with a new EP from M. Fukuda, the Japanese producer who has released some fine missives on labels like Slap Jaxx and Phobiq. Here he serves up three more finely chiselled cuts that come complete with a remix from Soma associated pair Space DJz. 

First up is the title track ‘Diamond Is Unbreakable’ a heads down and cantering brew of sandpaper textures and technoid squelches that is all about building to a heady peak. Subtle vocal sounds litter the landscape as the percussion scrapes on and huge blasts of white noise help to keep the tension throughout.  

The remix comes from Space DJz who have more than ten years experience in the game and a fine discography to boot. They re-version the track into something a little more rugged and roughly textured, Propelled by vast kick drums, splashes of claps bring a certain depth as tough iron like synths flesh out the groove. 

Next up, ‘Man of the Pillars’ is a torque-y techno cut that encourages heads down marching with its streamlined hi hats and frictionless groove rolling beneath a repeating male vocal who adds and air of urgency to the already masterfully intense arrangement that percolates below. 

Final offering ‘Golden Wind’ is a little more funky and playful but remains just as functional in dancefloor terms all the other three cuts. Here plenty of energy comes from the claps, which are stacked on top of each other, and rounded, rubbery hook that rides up and down the track from start to finish to imbue it with plenty of dynamism and fluid groove. 

Organism is a label that focuses on no-nonsense modern techno and few embody that MO better than Japan’s M. Fukuda, as this excellent EP proves once again.

Now fresh off an EP for AMITABHA to begin the year, Sebastian debuts on Or Two Strangers alongside remixes from Simply City and Golan Zocher.

The first interpretation of ‘Epiphany In The Woods'’ is provided by Simply City who is making his label debut. Hailing from Chile but now based in Montreal, Cesar Romero aka Simply City has become a fixture in the city’s burgeoning nightlife, earning a spot as one of Stereo’s resident DJs. On the production front he lays claim to releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings.

I was recently rewatching Game of Thrones, and the scene where Dany gets surrounded by a horde of Dothraki stood out to me. The song was epic, but you could barely hear it with the horses running around. So I sampled it and some other Dothraki sounds into this behemoth. 

May it be the soundtrack to our battle with the One True God in 7 hells.

The rapidly thriving onedotsixtwo label launches its 2020 campaign with yet another essential release, this time from the multitasking main man himself, Tripswitch, who has masterminded an incredible refreshing of his classic ‘Box Fresh’ track, having enlisted the studio skills of Emi Galván, Forerunners and Nicolas Rada, alongside him on remix duty.

“‘Box Fresh’ was a really significant track for me when it first came out on the ‘Propulsion EP’ in 2014. It was one of the first progressive tracks I wrote where I felt I’d successfully struck the right formula between my own production style, which was more rooted in epic, euphoric chillout, and an up-to-date progressive house sound.” - Tripswitch

The original track’s significance (represented by the 2020 Remaster in this new package) grew exponentially when it became one of the first Tripswitch tracks (after his remix of Seamless ‘Castle In the Sky’ on Section Records) that Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo really hammered in their sets and was thus pivotal in establishing Tripswitch on the progressive path, ultimately leading to the birth of onedotsixtwo. 

With an ethos to seek out and feature the finest world-class talent within the underground progressive house scene, Tripswitch has teamed up with rising Argentinian superstar Nicolas Rada (who is making a huge impression on the scene right now) to open proceedings. This creative dream team’s ability to tease out the essential original mind-blowing beauty of ‘Box Fresh’ with their deeply delicious 2020 ReFresh is quite astonishing. By composing a magnificently subtle, tantalizing, soaring, new melodic masterpiece, they set the stage perfectly for this truly outstanding remix package.

Another Buenos Aires resident, the exceptionally multi-talented Emi Galván, brings his own unique vision to ‘Box Fresh’. Emi has earned a reputation as a kind of crown prince of uplifting electronic music and here he injects his infectious blend of bounce and funk to proceedings to launch the track to a higher level of energetic abandonment, juxtaposing irresistible melodic hooks with euphoric percussive flourishes to create an absolutely monstrous dancefloor experience. Emi’s remix has already been cited by Nick Warren as one of the biggest tracks of his DJ sets.

Arizona USA’s Brenden LaBonte (aka Forerunners) makes a welcome return to onedotsixtwo with his outstanding remix. A sophisticated interwoven blend of skippy percussion, meandering bassline groove and lush layers of hypnotic melody, create a marvellous drifting sea of tranquil beauty.
