This cut through VA sees excellent additions to the series via standout material from Gareth Wild, SP-X, Kessell and exciting London based newcomer End Train.

Thomas K. is no stranger to Variance Music, his first ever EP release was on our sister label Variant Electronic as well as a remix for Proceed many moons ago. We are absolutely delighted to welcome on board for his first Variance solo release, this is not his first time on the imprint, he remixed Blurred Boy, and also OLVR/KCRA in 2017. The Italian maestro has blown me away since day one, and its a real pleasure to present his amazing electronic art to the world. His three originals are immense, varied, yet each has Thomas K.s distinct sound that we have come to know and love, from the pounding intro track LIFTOFF to the eerie downtempo track Mars and Escape, and the slower but just as heavy duty SWOTBH, he has gone in all guns blazing for this, and he has provided us with one for the history books in our opinion. On remix duties we have Berlin Based, Irish artist L00M, with his first release on the imprint, he had prior put out a track on the Variant 2000 compilation, and we are in the process of planning an EP for him, so keep your eyes peeled, and ears to the ground, and always, follow Variance Music, for real groundbreaking, cutting edge electronic music. Second up we have another incredible Irish artist, WOME label owner, Another Alias. Another Alias has really been working very hard, his vinyl only label has been getting great praise, and when you hear this remix, I implore you to check his label out, WOME aka White Of My Eyes, really solid music from the Dubliner, an honour to have him on board for this EP, as with every artists, but Another Alias on Variance has been long overdue, more-so considering I know the guy for more then a decade! Last, but most certainly not least we have Ket Robinson remixing Mars and Escape, he has provided an amazing remix, that conforms to his unique sound incredibly, Ket Robinson of course featured on the 4000 Variance VA, and we have more stuff planned with this amazing producer. So keep your eyes on Variance, this is our 5th year in operation, and we have some really exiting things planned. Enjoy Mars & Beyond, and watch this space for more groundbreaking electronic music.

STAUB is a project that came to life in Berlin around 2013. It aimed to detach itself from the hype and business from techno. The idea was simply to not announce a lineup and treat everyone the same without separating headliners from the rest. This strictly equalitarian but also very familial and friendly concept allowed to give chances to newcomers on a regular basis and to build a tight-knit community.
As time passed it also became an outlet to release music staying true to these ethos. Everyone is paid the same, doesn’t matter who you are, it’s all about music and respect.

It has somewhat become customary to have a record ready to celebrate its birthday. As STAUB turns seven, STAUB’s fifth instalment (STAUB 5 / IRIS007) will be available at “STAUB – 7 YEARS“ Event at :// about blank.

But to be honest the thing that's really on my mind as I write this is how we've been preparing this EP with its incredibly prescient track titles and me having to submit it as the world is literally burning. So, the soundtrack to our times I guess, perhaps he saw it coming... Remixes from Taro veterans Rowka and Syrette inject plenty of klank and rave in equal measure.

BRAIS is back! Fresh from his foray on our Taro Extra sublabel, we bring the Spanish talent back for a full EP. This is some warped stuff indeed, with opener Fake News pelting fast out the gates and a lead line that just twists all around in phrases. Taro favourite Metrocat jumps in to turn it into a deeper nightmare, as only he can. Whisky & Striptease as a sub heavy breakbeat number, with crazy one shot sounds, again forced back into techno territory on the remix by Taro Division (although not without its own break). The EP closes out with more synth weirdness in the form of 36. All in all, a release to unnerve you.
