In 2018, Variant Electronic discovered one of the most exciting and diverse acts since our conception, not that we haven't already had some of the most talented producers on board, but The Mark really has left his mark (I had to). Since his album Buried alive he has gone from strength to strength, with an incredible remix of Ethan Fawkes track Evolve from our last EP, Master Fawkes replied the favour with an incredible remix of I'm Lost on this LP, another artist who has helped re-brand Variant, Ethan has just started off on VE. Also on remix duties we have VE Regulars, A Humanoid Individual, DRT, Undying Minds (with his second track on the label), label manager Valerio, Shadowcomplex, and Barcelona based From-Chaos-Kindgdom for his first, and most certainly not last, remix on the label. An a new addition to the roster on this LP is the immense Raul Parra, a fantastic producer and DJ to boot. Also included are two brand new originals by The Mark called Gone and Lust, we decided to add them in as they suit the release, and the album in 2019 is hammed packed with bangers. To Review each track is totally in vein as far as I am concerned, this LP is a proper VE release, all regular acts, asides from Raul Parra, but we can guarantee more from him in the future. Some of the remixed tracks that you do not recognise from Buried Alive are upcoming one The Marks upcoming album in 2019 - Just like the movie Tits too hot to handle.. watch this space, The Mark and VE collab is in its infancy.

[VE041] The Mark - Unspoken (Shadowcomplex Soulfire Vision)

Axwell imbued Ibiza dancefloor killer.

Active since 2015, DJ Varsovie has always showed interest in playing with different electronic music genres and never sticking to one. His singular aesthetic his driven by 70's and 80's disco clubs with influences from goth and millenial techno. He sees himself as a ballroom crooner singing in despair the end of youth as the disco ball falls in slow motion. Collaborating with artists such as I Hate Models or Blind Delon among other dark lords, DJ Varsovie shows us his first LP ‘September’ two months ago. All work and no play for DJ Varsovie as he releases a new LP, composed of 8 tracks and 4 remixes. 

Side A sets the mood straight away with 'Sombre Ibiza'. The song begins with a rather hard bassline, evolving into a melody punctuated by a background noise that echoes the intoxication on the dancefloor.

Chillidos lejanos: rituales sombríos.

El índigo más profundo, una imagen desolada y grosera.
Yoga-darśana: esta es una guarida de iniquidad.

El sonido salvaje de Hyperlacrimae muestra las raíces del dúo italiano en la música industrial con la adición de una fuerte actitud onírica de infusión oscura.

Galopantes sonidos posindustriales y un estilo personal con rasgos tribales y catacumbos, una especie de ritual místico y distorsionado, una danza salvaje con un sabor antiguo y primordial.

El LP oscila entre un dinamismo intenso y crudo, totalmente demostrado por "Kobra", el clímax del álbum, "Kogawa No Gotsu" y "Blood Ties", y una sensación de perdición, demostrada en actos reflexivos como "Incubus" y el outro "Korekore -Matakawa ". También hay espacio para la angustiosa atmósfera de "In My Poison", un ejemplo contemporáneo de la cara más oscura de Industrial.

Los remezcladores Shrouds, Impure Secretion, Scarpa participan con tres reinterpretaciones de gran impacto.

Knife today premiere the track "Kobra (Endless)" by Hyperlacrimae wichis part of the new album of the label Infidel Bodies.

Barren wastelands, a distant moon.
Far screeches: gloomy rituals.
Piercing cries.

The deepest indigo, a desolate and rude imagery.
Yoga-darśana : this is a den of iniquity.

Hyperlacrimae’s savage sound shows the Italian duo’s roots in industrial music with the addition of a strong dark-infused oniric attitude.

Straddling post-industrial sounds and a personal style with tribal and catacombic features, a sort of mystical and distorted ritual, a wild dance with an ancient and primordial flavour.

The LP oscillates between a raw intense dynamism - fully demonstrated by “Kobra”, the album’s climax, “Kogawa No Gotsu” and “Blood Ties” - and a sense of perdition, evinced in reflective acts like “Incubus” and the outro “Korekore-Matakawa”. There’s also room for the distressing atmosphere of “In My Poison”, a contemporary example of obscure Industrial’s heaviest face.

The remixers Shrouds, Impure Secretion, Scarpa participate with three reinterpretations of great impact.

The American electronic music duo was formed in 2014 by Dominic Escalante (synths, sequencing) and Mimi Chakravorty (vocals, drum programming). They are heavily influenced by Italo Disco, Electro-Clash and Club Music, both old and new.  Lyrically they draw inspiration from the themes of darkness and isolation of the nighttime and horror and surrealist cinema of the late 80’s/ early 90’s.
