Various Eggs realize that their first release will set the expectations for all releases that follow.  With this in mind, their initial E.P. reflects a wide breadth of influences.  If the next release were a horror movie soundtrack, it could be anticipated by this E.P.  If the next release were a cover of the entirety of Neil Young’s Tonight’s The Night, this could be anticipated by the E.P. as well.  And somewhere between these extremes lie Various Eggs.

Disposing of “The Need”

Abdiel (AB-D-L) Jaaziah Bolden, a rapper on the east coast with storytelling abilities picked up from artist such as Richard Walters, Jay-z, Andre 3000,Biggy Smalls, Kanye West, Common, John Legend and many more motivational rappers/musicians on the east coast. Being of the fact that hip-hop is a great way to disperse a message throughout the world; Abdiel has sought to understand worldly issues. By means sharing insight on issues never fully addressed through history nor the present, Abdiel sings, raps, and plays the left hand electric guitar.He hasthe soul of jami Hendrix. He has also been raised up on soulful intellectual music since he was born. Jaaziah can certainly spit it through the wire. He's nationally known as an native of Richmond City where many of his own people reside in an crisis everyday currently striving to maintain a way with all at risk without any thing to gain , living to do right with no choice but to do wrong akin to the long lost Big(one of the Hip-Hop Heroes on the east coast).When Abdiel was only three years old(1995), his father had an conversation with Voletta Wallace, Christopher Latore Wallace's(commonly referred to as "Biggy Smalls") Mother on the phone which not only inspired Abdiel to Rap, but to stay humble throughout life though his childhood was far from easy. His childhood took a devastating turn after causing his house to burn down at the age of six. Since then his family has suffered tremendously, but they have managed to stick together. In the urban lifestyle of the city of Richmond (Highland Park) he was inspired at a young age to advocate the essence of Knowledge through his music in which he plans to deposit throughout the globe. Truth is told, he’s a positive innovator as well.

The cat’s out of the bag… Our new 3 track E.P. is coming out on November 3rd! It’s also up and live on Bandcamp already because, well, I messed up.  Anyway, I’m thrilled to finally have released Five Four Girls. 

We started working on these songs at Rabid Ears Recording back in 2019 with the intention of releasing them as this E.P. From those recording sessions, only the drum tracking for the title track has made it to this release. Tricia and I recorded (or re-recorded) everything else at our own homegrown studio that we refer to as Mushroomtopia. The reason for that nickname is obvious if you’ve ever seen my moss-covered yard after a rainstorm.

"Five Four Girls" and "To Jenny" are songs written as a character.  They aren't me.  They aren't Tricia. But, it was fun to go to such unsavory places for some pretty creepy songs.

"Drone Bomb You" is an attempt to write something of a geo-political song.  And, boy, that is a difficult thing to write.  The song ended up a critique of another songwriter's attempt to write an urgent song about the state of politics. Kyle from Book of Wyrms guests on lead guitar on this song!

I thank Tricia for continuing to work with me and for enthusiastically jumping into the role of production partner. I thank Allen Bergendahl for his ongoing support, friendship, expertise and advice. I thank Kyle Lewis for many hours of shredding. I thank Laura Manchester for embracing my visual ideas and running with them to fantastic results.
