This song is particularly meaningful for me this year. As the May flowers begin to bloom, so has a new hope for a return to normalcy and LIVE music. Written exactly 100 years ago, I wanted to play the tune, but also include the wonderful verse, and also interpolate a little "Singing in the Rain" as I sat down to write the chart on a lovely rainy April afternoon in quarantine. I'm happy with the results, but don't take myself too seriously.
I hope this puts a smile on your face with a century-old message that is as timeless and meaningful as ever!

Taken from an extremely rare radio broadcast (only parts remain) performed by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra with the Moon Maids "Camel Caravan" radio show. Monroe said: "No program is complete without an Irving Berlin song."

We are pleased to be able to release some of these rare titles from the archives. Unless you heard this live on the radio or in person, this is the first re-release of this particular broadcast.

Released: November, 1943.

Reissued for the first time, this is a disc that the servicemen and women would have heard for Christmas, 1943. This recording nor arrangement were never recorded commercially by Monroe, other than the Lang-Worth disc which was played on the radio. For some reason, none of the George H. Buck (GHB) reissues of Monroe's Lang-Worth recordings included this incredible version of "White Christmas."

To me, this is a brilliant performance. Vaughn delivers beautiful interpretation of the beloved song (recall the song is not yet a year old!), with a great dance beat. This lovely arrangement was written by Vaughn's lead trumpet player Frank Ryerson. Ryerson wrote many orchestrations for the band including on many hits such as "Let it Snow" and "There! I've Said it Again." Alto sax solo in the middle is by the great Andy Bagni.
