So the weird thing is, the laptop recognizes the Flash drive in the "F12 Menu", but won't boot from it, even though I select it. It will just start Windows and show my login screen.Also, when I plug in a Win Installer on USB (Tried Win8), it is able to boot the installation menu without issues.(I also tried a Ubuntu14 bootable USB stick, but this didn't work neither. Even though, here it at least shows the common screen "Try Ubuntu"/ "Install Ubuntu", but then the screen stays black - won't do anything.)

i have been having these issues also. for day to day use i have no issue. when windows has a large update my drive starts disappearing in windows and the bios. i just did a fresh install of windows and i had to remove the wd drive as it was forcing my in a endless loop. it was just a storage drive but it was still making issues till i removed it.when windows forces restarts during updates the drive just disappears.


I would like a bit of assistance in determining the SSD size. Probably a 128GB may work, since program files (with the x86) plus windows folder is about 75GB. Except for price, is there any reason to go to 256 or 512GB over the 128?


Weird. But it's not unheard of that Windows update breaks something. I've had it knock out my sound card drivers in the past. But since windows driers are loaded later on it would be weird if they are the culprit. I'm just wondering if you used AiSuite to change some settings? Or did you have any other tool in place that would write to your BIOS from windows? That might care either written something incorrectly or corrupted something.


I was able to get out of the boot loop but selecting Last Known Good Configuration, which again took me to black with Cursor, but at least when booting up Normally now, it doesn't boot Loop (thanks LKGC)


I just couldn't believe none of the built-in Windows tools being run from Command Line were showing no errors anywhere and no corruption, but I was definitely not getting past a blank black screen with Active Cursor at boot.


Yesterday,I was using Blender's Eevee when this happened. On a second try, same issue happened with screen full of "spaceinvaders", but this time with additional bright artefacting colors, and PC booted again... but on the third try, I couldn't get into Windows 10's desktop anymore. PC is on, but the screen is black. Tried all 3 DP ports and HDMI port, and nothing. Even Windows hotkeys to shut down the PC wasn't working, so I had to hold the power button to shut it down completely. So I guess, it didn't reach Windows when booting, since one of the hardware pieces isn't responding the way it should.


Sometimes Windows can hang for awhile during startup if it has trouble getting a dynamic IP address assigned from your DHCP server. Can you boot into Safe Mode with Networking? If you get the same black screen, try resetting your cable/DSL modem.
