With over a decade of experience in the Indian underground electronic music scene, Roan Sable has become a defining force in the country's house music movement. A DJ known for his obscure, weird, minimal grooves infused with funky vocals and dark psychedelic layers, Roan’s sets are an intricate blend of the old and the new—seamlessly weaving in 90s house with forward-thinking sounds that keep dancefloors locked in a hypnotic groove. Comfortably navigating both day time open air gigs with funky old school house to more intense night time club/warehouse gigs with the deeper/darker shades of house music, he is focused on locking the crowd in his groove.
His journey began at 15, sneaking into a party and finding himself drawn not to the crowd, but to the booth. Years later, armed with a Sound Engineering degree from SAE, he now commands that very space, shaping dancefloors with his unique sonic perspective.
Roan has left his mark on India’s top clubs and festivals, including Antisocial, Sunburn, and Supersonic, while also sharing the stage with icons like Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, and Archie Hamilton and others. His time spent abroad in the US and Mexico further expanded his sonic arsenal, exposing him to underground club cultures that deeply influence his sound today.
A career-defining moment came when Mixmag, one of the world’s most prestigious electronic music publications, invited him to perform for their signature event series. His recorded set was released on Mixmag’s YouTube channel, where it has since amassed 80,000+ views, solidifying his reputation as a tastemaker in the scene.
Beyond DJing, Roan is also a key figure in building the house music scene in India. In 2022, alongside longtime collaborator Obscure, he launched House Arrest, a concept night dedicated to showcasing all flavours of House Music. What began as a bi-monthly residency at Qora, Pune, has since expanded to shows in Shillong, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, with plans to grow into other cities like Delhi, Bangalore, and Goa.
As he now focuses on his own productions, Roan’s long-term vision is clear—to spearhead the house music movement in India, inspire the next generation of DJs, and continuously bring fresh perspectives to the underground scene through his meticulously curated sets.
