A.G was born Cordèro Boyd, January 17, 1987 in Chicago, Illinois at Trinity Hospital to Deneen Boyd and Martin Santiago. His father would die several months before his birth. AG split time growing up on the south and Westside of Chicago, his mom was single and raised him until her untimely death in 1998, two weeks before Christmas.

He then moved to the south suburbs outside of Chicago where he attended high school and participated in basketball and football. He also would participate in a wide-range of criminal activities. After leaving school his senior year, due to legal issues in which he was arrested and charged with several felonies.

He would eventually go on to plead guilty to a lesser charge that would allow him to avoid jail time. Had he not plead out an lost his court case, he would have faced 80 years max if convicted on all the charges. After being sentenced to 2 year’s probation he moved back to the Westside and began doing music full time.

He then relocated to the north side where he would rap in several groups one of which he and a now deceased friend started called CTF Ent. After the disbandment of CTF in early 2011 he began to focus on himself knocking out numerous tracks for his first solo released mix tape Highly Anticipated. He has performed on the same stages as Papoose, L.E.P Bogus Boys, Bo Deal, Guttaville Gangstas, as well as a host of other artist. In 2011, he moved to the Bay area of California, only to leave for Atlanta.

He said the move was to help him develop and try new styles. However, in the being he was very apprehensive about working with new people. He would then participate in a huge cypher at 1 of the country’s most famous events “420 Day at Golden Gate Park” in San Francisco. This young 25 year old artist star is rising and with his recent move to Atlanta it looks as if AG is poised to spark a bidding war amongst the industry elite.

Though he hopes to remain independent as long as possible he does welcome all offers. With his new imprint A1 Gwala is gaining momentum in the streets, AG says Gwala will remain mostly a small circle of friends and family he had before all the attention.

If you ask him what’s his motivation or who he does this for, at this point he tell you point blank, “Man to be honest it’s about me and mines. I’m done trying to help everybody cause when u need those same people you’ve helped they’re never around. So I’m focusing on me and doing the best music I know how, period. It’s about A1 Gwala . I’m trying do something positive now. I’m not in the field like I used to be but I will ride or die for the few loved ones I do have.”
