From the rain-slick rooftops of a fading cityscape, Velvet Bone rises like a shadow chorus from Seattle’s haunted past. Blending the soul-scarring depth of Alice In Chains with the glam-tragic swagger of Mother Love Bone, this four-piece grunge revival band doesn’t just channel the sound — they exhume it, breathe life into it, and burn it anew.

Led by brooding frontman Joe Mercer, whose voice shifts between a wounded growl and ghostly lament, Velvet Bone spins tales of loss, decay, addiction, and shattered dreams. Bassist Ash Monroe brings melodic weight and emotional depth, her harmonies and lyrics cutting with quiet precision. Guitarist Zane Wilder shreds with both chaos and beauty, while drummer Dave Rourke keeps it all grounded with tribal thuds and stormy restraint.

Their debut EP, Ashes Like Velvet, is a six-track dive into the wreckage of memory and the seduction of pain. From the sludge-soaked confession of “Hollow Eyes”, to the delicate ache of “Rain Down”, the EP builds toward the explosive glam-grunge waltz “Glass House”, before closing with the raw vulnerability of “Broken” and a bold, reimagined cover of KISS’s “Coming Home.”
