Phuong-Dan’s reputation as an amazing, fearless DJ showed again, when he transformed a pumping, post-Dekmantel festival RH store into a busy, but serene music documentation centre. After a short browse, the versatile DJ decided to play tidy, beautiful (sometimes even crystalline) ambient productions by contemporary artists as wel as classic cult greats.

For over a decade now, the Hamburg based DJ is both resident and host (of Gatto Musculoso)at legendary St. Pauli underground venue Golden Pudel Club. He is also strongly associated with Dusseldorf’s Salon Des Amateurs.  Phuong-Dan creates characteristic, very divergent atmospheres with his curious mixes, that go from techno, krautrock to rare disco and obscure experimental music.

Recordings from friends of Verdant Recordings inspired by colour and light.

Forging new friendships and new experiences is one of the principle pleasures of my passion for underground music.  Around 2 years ago, i was astonished to be contacted by Nesa, inviting me to contribute a mix for Deep House Tehran (DHT) an online magazine that she lovingly curates.  The request opened my ears and closed mind to a community and corner of dance culture i had neither known or expected to exist outside of my preconceptions of electronic music.  A salutary lesson learned and a wonderful opportunity to expand my horizons.

I gained an appreciation of the Tehran scene and of Nesa's own brilliant music which forms half of the next Verdant Recordings release 'Limbic Resonance',  a split shared with Alison Marks.  

A track from that is heard last in this mix from Nesa completing a poetic musical circle.  The EP is available in the coming weeks.

Around 8 years ago Andy’s passion for the music finally encouraged him to pick up a tone-arm for the first time to learn the dark art of mixing records. Since then Verdant Recordings Sound Cloud page has become a goto place for diverse sets of emotive and melodic deep music that attracts loyal following. Andy also hosts regular online live broadcasts for Timeline Music and is resident for Transition and SUNK events in London. Verdant Recordings vinyl label starting releasing in 2016 is now established following a series of highly respected 12's dipping into multiple genres of deep music. With an emphasis on supporting new unsigned artists from around the world; Aos, Low Orbit Satellite, Mihail P and Interjection have all had the first vinyl releases on the label. An 8 track double 12 ‘Verdant’ will be released in October having assembled a dream line-up of favourite producers including Bluetrain, XDB, Stojche, Gauss and Life Recorder and a debut release for S U B S E Q U E N T.

Lazy Suzan & Swisherman

In 2019 on their album ‘The State Between Us’ The Matthew Herbert (Brexit) Big Band asked ’what does brexit sound like?’. It was recorded over 2 years with more than 1000 musicians and singers. Fast forward to 2021 and post-brexit as musician’s face crippling costs and admin to work in Europe, they release a new single with all the European musicians and singers removed. Matthew’s recording trip to Grimsby in 2018, the lonely swimming of the English channel and the haunting ‘You’re Welcome Here’ eerily prescient of a country painfully and pointlessly cutting itself off from its closest neighbours. This special brexit-edition ep is the sound of isolation.
