"And The Kids Say” highlighting the oppression of children who fall victim to abuse. Abuse from people that we call “safe” to people in power to people whose faces you’ll never see. This topic is a heavy subject and not spoken about enough. Leaving many victims silenced. Earlier this year we heard about the Maxwell trial and were infuriated about the exploitation of children by people whom you look up to from top politicians, celebrities, to self proclaimed elites. It’s truly disgusting how the media sweeps this issue under the rug. It wasn’t till writing this song when we noticed how silenced children really are. From the start kids are told to only speak when spoken to and to listen to adults, leaving many children victims of manipulation. This helped us develop the hook “And the kids say, I won’t do what you tell me” while also paying homage to the lyrics by Rage Against The Machine. Children must be protected by us at all costs but millions of kids have been failed by our adults and failed by our system. We have chosen to use this song for the children who have been left voiceless, may we bring forth justice and may we finally listen to the kids who have been crying for help for centuries.
