We've had our eye on this artist for a while now and after his latest release on the very impressive label Fever AM, we couldn't resist getting in touch.
Xen Chron is the most recent alias of DJ & producer Chris Leamy. Chris began DJing under the name SILENI in 1998, as part of the BrandNuBass crew throwing illegal d’n’b basement parties around Boston. Then, releasing leftfield d’n’b during the mid-2000s on labels like Subtle Audio, Offshore, & Planet Mu. This was followed by producing more techno-y and experimental sounds in obscurity for a whole decade, then going public again as Xen Chron around 2017.

- Photek, Surgeon, Goldie, Derrick May, Danny Breaks, Jeff Mills, Joey Beltram, Cristian Vogel, Kool Keith, Wu-Tang, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Fela Kuti, Frank Zappa, Neil Landstrumm, James Brown

What new projects / releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- numerous, but i don’t want to say in case they fall through :|

- hearing amazing new music, being jealous of it, and needing to re-create a similar experience myself

- iMac running Logic with a million plug-ins, plus a Korg Minilogue, an Octatrack, and a midi keyboard

Strange But Dance Music #172: Xen Chron

Many of my mixes typically balance club/dancefloor goals with sound design, psychedelia, and atonality. That’s a fairly common stated goal for many DJs I follow as well.

Instead, this mix is pure cerebral sonic indulgence. Tracks were chosen for their complementary textures, matching atonal note sequences, and their ability to keep your head dunked under waves of dense sounds. 
Hopefully, it’s trippy, futuristic, and even a little bit stressful. Any dancefloor utility is a bonus.

The accompanying image should evoke a similar feeling: juicy, dense, and otherworldly.
