Jason Letkiewicz has always swum against the musical tides, flitting between different solo pseudonyms (including Steve Summers, Death Commando and Alan Hurst) and collaborative projects (most notably Mutant Beat Dance) in order to explore different aspects of his leftfield inspirations. With his latest release, a first full-length outing for Artificial Dance entitled Mirage Information, the Chicago-based artist is operating under an alias that celebrates this approach: Opposing Currents.

It’s an alias he’s used once before – for a track featured on Chronditic Sound’s 2015 cassette compilation Non-Christian Referent – but Mirage Information sounds like an artistic rebirth. Densely layered, mind-altering and often intense, the album’s seven tracks update the Cold War paranoia and pulsating electronics of EBM and industrial music for today’s complex and chaotic political climate.

Throughout, Letkiewicz smothers off-kilter drum machine rhythms and throbbing, body-jacking synthesizer basslines in untold layers of hazy audio detail, creating a dystopian sound soup out of which alien electronic melodies, psychedelic acid lines and barely audible vocals emerge. At times, such as on angry opener “Lying Awake”, the extra-terrestrial “Dissolve” and foreboding “Shallow Grave”, we’re invited to dance in the darkness in celebration of impending doom. On other occasions, such as the poignant and melancholic closing cut “It Awaits”, Letkiewicz simply seems exasperated at the chaos that is life in the 21st century. It makes for a genuinely arresting and thought-provoking listen.

This is a live played track thats not on the LIES album thats out now (get the digital here https://liesrecords.bandcamp.com/album/means-to-freedom and the vinyl LP is available in any good recordstore) maybe I will do something with it in the future for a new GLADIO LP/EP whatever  -> Again thanks to all Australian fans and well wishers - it was a grandiose time again! I will be back! This track shall be named  "Triumphant while our enemies sleep " which would be cool if that title was in the  latin language -  but I didn't attend the Lyceum (I had to go to the handycrafts lesson with other less fortunate ones while the smart ones attended the Latin & Greek lessons - down in the handycrafts class we would hit eachother with hammers and sniff wood glue) Anyways if you know what "Triumphant while our enemies sleep "  is in Latin let me know!!!

PREMIERE #2116 | Technobeton - No No (Antoni Maiovvi Remix) [Italo Moderni] 2020

Following his appearance on Soil Records' second anniversary commemorative album, Rambal Cochet earned himself a special place on the label. His style makes him unique, the repeated tonal use of the harmonic minor scale is perhaps the most characteristic of this artist, with a musicality in his works that recall an early stage of Goa, situated long before moving to the force and energy of psy - trance.

His return this time is solo and he does it starring in the tenth reference on vinyl with UFO Researcher, an EP that he releases with 3 original tracks and 2 versions by Cute Heels and Pablo Bozzi. The homonymous track opens side A with an imposing bass and a rhythm that doubles its tempo as if it were IDM, but this is just the foundation of a much more complex sounding structure in which the melodies are crossed by different ranges of frequencies. . Paco Resist is the second track on side A, a cut with the standardized metric of techno but with a great groove originating from the bass line and with arpeggiated melodic elements. The Cute Heels version is more direct than the original track, its rhythm is more marked, direct and less expansive.

Side B opens with Tatra Tropicana, a track with a different sound from the rest, set in a scenario more typical of Synthwave and although this time the musicality is simpler because there are few tonal variations, Rambal Cochet's predilection for the minor hues. The version of Tatra Tropicana by Pablo Bozzi closes the EP. the remix is ​​much more energetic and its sound variations take on an acid tinge.
