Naarm-based Fem-run electronic music label, party, mix series and DJ-duo @strangeinteractions present an hour of drum and bass, oozy dubstep, left-field techno and IDM.

In this mix from we are reminded of the dark and murky dancefloors that we love and miss so dearly, the connections they create and the music that brings us straight to the ground, knees bent and arms flailing.

Test subject 1.11 and @southernexposurerecords label boss @nicolasure embodies molten lava on a slow, seeping journey between rock and earth, slithering through planetary crust and oozing by relics buried long ago. This one goes very, very deep.

"It was really interesting having an image to base the mix off. I had the print hanging above my set-up for ages and so was constantly analysing it. To me the red tones look like lava or something burning. I tried to reflect that with the long, slow and oozing tracks. I always had this simile of a volcano in my head, some moments are frantic and other times the volcano just bubbles away. I tried to do that with the mix." - Nicola Sure's meditations on incorporating the image into his mix.

And here we are, closing out the year with a mix from a relative newcomer whose music has travelled well this year.

A Psychic Yes is a producer with whom some will be familiar and others not - with releases on the likes of Tech Startup, Kalahari Oyster Cult and Schloss his sound is uniquely individual. It draws upon a wide collection of influences and moods, pairing elements of IDM with playful UK bass, techno and beyond.

Each of his releases are woven as a wonderful tapestry of odd glitches, melodic flutters, strange percussion and experimental electronics. 

This mix is a representation of his sound and shows us a glimpse of what's to come in the near future for what is a very promising artist.
