This is such an old track - I wrote it in Toronto during the winter of 2001. I can't believe it's almost 20 years old now. I always loved the chord progression and really the production isn't too shabby considering how old it is. I made this using, I believe, Buzz tracker as the sequencer controlling outboard gear - a Waldorf Q, Yamaha A3000, maybe a Korg Trinity and a Yamaha FS1R maybe?

Heaven's Descent

I took Phil Collins' greatest hits and smeared the record across time and space. If you can imagine someone violently smearing a bug or a piece of cheese across a table surface, or a floor – that's the basic sentiment I feel towards this record. Smashing, burning throwing, breaking, or otherwise destroying the physical record wasn't gratifying enough, so I created this album as an art project capture and express my perpetual disdain for this "musical" travesty.

Each track has had extreme, 100% wet reverb applied both forwards and backwards, with a fair amount of distortion and other sonic mutilations liberally applied.

The cover image is also a result of taking the original record cover and applying extreme horizontal motion blur – the spatial equivalent of the treatment performed on the music in the sonic/temporal domain.
