Joy Ride in Oakland

Recorded live at the NZ Spirit Festival, Chai Tent Stage on January 19, 2023.

As I look back on my summer tour of New Zealand, I reflect on some of my favorite moments. I felt a part of the Kiwi community and had so much good feedback. I love NZ!

So I wanted to choose my favorite set to share. Though some of the biggest stage sets had my voice over it or just weren’t recorded, I chose this one where I feel like I had a ton of fun and was at the most ease while on the South Island.

This was the first DJ set of the weekend at the NZ Spirit Festival and the vibes were just right. This was the first-ever NZ Spirit Festival on the South Island. Everyone gathered at the Chai Tent Stage as soon as I started to play and we had a blast. I loved playing anything I felt like and not having to make it an ecstatic dance journey. Though it is a journey of fun and surprises with bangers throughout.

With change in the air and much anticipated wellness on the way it seemed like the right time to create a memento of this recent chapter of life... 

The music woven together in this homebrew is quite sentimental, the exact medicine I never knew I needed until it landed in my body at the right time and interestingly the right pace with most being a similar tempo and tone. 

Each of the tracks were recognised from within as a remedy long before I came to understand their meaning or relevance let alone marinade in their melodies. 

It is only now when I listen back that I come to appreciate the inner intelligence at work here and in turn start to rebuild some trust in my body and it’s ability to heal.
