There is a big difference between walls that were never built and those that once were built and are not broken down.  There is something about the whole visual that just says brokenness, disorder, needing repair, danger, easy to be harmed.  So it is with someone who lacks self-control. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit of God and when we surrender our life to Jesus Christ, abide with Him, and become His disciple; He gives us a grace to live a life of self-control by His Spirit.

In this moment of wisdom found in Proverbs 27: 19 “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart” Greg shares the importance of having wisdom in your life.  They discuss and asked the question of what would happen if Google shut down?  How many people would be in your and lack knowledge but what’s worse than lacking knowledge is lacking the wisdom to apply the knowledge that you do know.  Just as water reflects what a person looks like so does their life reflect who they are, how they speak, the relationships they keep, how they love, how they take care of their finances and how they care for those who are close to them.  Their life is a reflection of what’s happening in their heart. If you want to see the heart, just look at their fruit. You will know them by their actions all you have to do is watch their lives and you can see what the heart is full of.  As a man think it’s in his heart so is he.

In this wisdom moment, we talk about the wisdom of looking at the heart of a person.

“Like a coating of silver dross on earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart. Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts, they harbor deceit. Though their speech is charming, do not believe them, for seven abominations fill their hearts. Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.” Proverbs 26:23-26

This is telling us that a person can be all pretty on the outside like silver coated pottery but on the inside one can be evil. In life, we must find out what is in a person’s heart to know who they truly are and what they stand for. Like politicians, we must find out what they stand for and what is in their hearts versus just what they are saying. We can look at what they are doing, what their actions are, and we can see who they truly are.

We can tell when someone is not truly walking with God as well. A person may say they are a believer, but you can listen to what they are saying and what their actions are to see if they are truly a follower of Christ because we need to guard our hearts not to be deceived.

When someone is charming, and their words are enticing we can stop listening to their words. Also, if we have been one who has been charming and deceitful, we can repent and turn away from that sin and then repent to the people that we have manipulated. Maybe you don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, He loves you and wants to have a relationship with you! You can repent of your sin and make Jesus the Lord of your life today.
