Say "Ahhh" !

Have you ever looked up at a star, seeing it flicker colorfully, vividly inspiring you with an image? I definitely know I did: The first time it happened when I was quite small, exploring every phenomenon around me - I took a good look at a star and because of the possible nebula hiding its full spark, making it flicker, I thought to myself: "These may not be mere stars, but perhaps some fancy space bars" As their light was never the same color, but ranging from yellow to red, blue and even violet.
That mood stuck with me ever since - I wonder if one day, one dream I would see that place in outer space I ever wanted to embrace.

This tune improvisation is a homage to that memory - a blend of nostalgia and need to be with the cosmic buddies from the bar that no one on earth have ever been to before.

Dropped his .wav file into Granulator 3 in Ableton 12 then played some notes into the track while listening to the original track. Notes were an octave lower than original track and panned to the right.

There's so little information about this amazing renga poet that I decided to share another poem written by him. This one is part of a longer sequence, written in 1463:

Only the moon remains
floating in the memory upon
Kinokawa River—
pale glistening waves,
the blank wake of drowned men.
 
About this poem, the author said: "Among the hundreds and thousands who have drowned and perished in this river
due to the disorders in this province were those whom I knew in former days. Often
I would walk along the river, gazing at the moon."

(Heart's Flower - The Life and Poetry of Shinkei)

Shinkei (1406-75) was a renowned renga poet and critic, best known for his two-part work "Sasamegoto" (Murmured Conversations). Can you hear it in the air? A storm is coming, electricity is in the air.

Le temps de l'orage

A light hearted bluesy song about a guy going to a party and not remembering a thing afterwards.

Don’t remember but must have been...   some kind of party 

Invited to a party, last Saturday night
Got me all dressed up, I just-had to look right
Lot’s of pretty women walking about
Thought I did my best to not freak out

Don’t remember but must have been...   some kind of party 

Must‘ve had a drink or two, or maybe many more
My memory’s kind of fuzzy after walkin thru the door
Hope I wasn’t rude and craz to anybody there
Just hoping for a good time, but I guess I didn’t care

Did I do the macarena, or strut the chicken dance
With the O Jays and Kool and the Gang, I just didn’t stand a chance
Could have been the beer, or maybe whisky shots
