24-year old producer, VHOOR, is one of Brazil’s brightest talents to take the international stage. Hailing from the city of Belo Horizonte, VHOOR has been able to build a loyal fanbase both in Brazil and overseas, mixing global electronic music with Brazilian and Afro-Latino rhythms..

VHOOR’s work with American producer Sango, for their 2019 EP “Acima” helped introduce VHOOR’s talents to a global audience, while the two worked together for Sango’s more recent projects, including his album “Da Rocinha 4” and his EP “Sangozinho.” VHOOR’s music is frequently played on Soulection Radio (Apple Music 1), KCRW (Los Angeles), KEXP (Seattle), BBC1Xtra, BBC Radio6, WWFM, NTS, Bandcamp Weekly and others. His album releases have also been covered by international media outlets including The Guardian, Complex, AfroPUNK, Okayplayer, Bandcamp, DJ Mag, and Rolling Stone.

In Brazil, VHOOR is one of today’s go-to producers, working with some of Brazil’s brightest talents in the Hip Hop, Electronic, and Baile Funk realm. His latest album “BAILE” with Brazilian rapper FBC, helped modernize Miami Bass and Freestyle production and was widely featured on various Best Albums of 2021 lists. The album was applauded by Brazilian media and the single “Se Ta Solteira” went viral on TikTok and Instagram Reels, resulting in over 26 million plays on Spotify, while charting on several national and global charts on Spotify.

VHOOR continues to push the boundaries of electronic music production, importing international genres and incorporating them with Brazilian Baile Funk and other lesser known Brazilian rhythms. His solo instrumental albums (Ritmo, Baile & Vibes, Baile & Sauce, etc), and his work as part of the collective Weird Baile (alongside producers Mu540 and JLZ), have expanded the conversation on the potential of Brazilian electronic music.

“Baile & Bass” is an album with the intent on merging Miami Bass with contemporary production techniques, using dense textures, dissonant harmonies and moving bass. The album also helps re-establish Miami Bass's roots as a foundation to modern day Brazilian Baile Funk.

His music is deeply inspired by Brazilian Baile Funk and other Afro-Brazilian rhythms while also being a product of House, Techno, Footwork, Hip Hop, Future Beats, and more. His work with Brazilian rapper, FBC, for their collaborative album “Baile” catapulted his profile in Brazil, playing most major Brazilian music festivals including Primavera Sound São Paulo in 2022, winning several awards for Producer of the Year while further cementing his name as one of Brazil’s most in-demand producers. “Baile” has amassed over 43 million plays on Spotify and provided VHOOR his first opportunity to DJ overseas, selling out shows in London, Paris, and Lisbon while also playing in Berlin, Lyon, Barcelona, and Porto. VHOOR’s 3rd EU/UK Tour is confirmed for June 2023 and has announced the first round of confirmed shows in London, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Dortmund, Dublin and Geneva. VHOOR was also recently named a new resident DJ/programmer for NTS Radio. His show “Aquecimento” will debut at the end of March.

“Expirado” or “Expired” in English is a 6-song collection of some of VHOOR’s earlier “Chill Baile” productions. “Chill Baile” is a sub-genre of Brazilian Baile Funk which started to appear on SoundCloud around 2015. Some of the main producers including Deekapz, JLZ and Carlos Do Complexo are today, some of Brazil’s most revered producers. Most of the main protagonists of the movement have evolved their sound over the years but VHOOR felt it was the right time to, once again, shed light onto this style. “Expirado” features a more subdued and reflective version of “Chill Baile” using less vocal samples while highlighting jazz chord progressions and samples over Baile Funk rhythms and percussion.

What a year it has been and now its coming to an end, but before the year finishes we have one last track to release. Sent in by @ybryd in collaboration with @must-miv both are beat makers from São Paulo, Brazil and have got a library full of tracks on their soundcloud. Together they created an up beat fun summer time baile track, gearing up for Summer down under. Take note Wile Out will be on break for a few weeks, getting these releases ready for next year, so make sure you keep an eye out for what's to come in 2019.
