This is a Bi-weekly pod cast of my current show entitled " Live & Improvised " this is not a DJ set. As the title says the music is performed live and is improvised. This means the music is made up on the spot. Each show is uniqe and what is heard will never be reproduced again. It is a personal Journey between me and the people present at my performance. A unique type of breakthrough act delivers this week's mix.

Marquis Hawkes debuted in 2012, releasing a trio of EPs on Glasgow's Dixon Avenue Basement Jams label. Drawing from classic Chicago house, with a no frills approach to production that made him the perfect fit for the label (whose motto is "real rockin' raw shit from the street for the clubs"), the EPs made him an instant one-to-watch in house and techno. 2014 was Hawkes' most productive year yet: as well as another record on Dixon Avenue, he delivered records for European labels that fit his approach (Clone Jack for Daze, Creme Organisation) and inked a deal with Houndstooth, who released his Fifty Fathoms Deep EP.

Hawkes is no kid, however (if you didn't gather that from the illustration above): a British ex pat in Berlin, he was making music for 15 years before finding success as Marqius, and his FACT mix draws from two decades of buying and making dance records. DBX, Kerri Chandler, Armando and Roy Davis Jr are all included, while there's also an airing for newer, but still classic-sounding house from Leon Vynehall and Delroy Edwards.

Rather than taking the straight up obvious such as Jesse's remix of Armand Van Helden's 'Playmate', Jesse has highlighted his favourite moments from over the last decade from unreleased gems such as his remix of his production for Hotchip 'Build A House', to his super hard to get hold of mixes of T.E.E.D 'Garden' to classics such as Hardrive 'Deep Inside' and tracks that gave Jesse his name (A-sided and You're All Over My Head) and remixes of Claude vonstrokes 'The Whistler' and Hot Chip’s ' Ready For The Floor'.
