Bill Brewster - "Hotel Motel, which is myself and Alex Tepper, did this remix over five years ago, sometime in the second half of 2016. Think it may have been the last thing Alex and I did together. He’s subsequently gone on to work for Calvin Harris and Jax Jones. Talented boy.   I’m a fan of Jeb Loy’s work and thought it would be interesting to try and match his country-soul stylings with something very electronic. We stripped everything back save his vocals and guitar, stretched it out and kept it deep. We were really happy with the result, but I’m not sure anyone at the label liked it very much. It was promoed a few years later but never released. One person who did like it, was Andrew Weatherall; I gave it to him and his partner in crime at ALFOS, Sean, and I know they both played it. Then it died a death. This is your chance to breathe new life into it :)"

I am very happy to share with you my remix of Rodriguez's "I Think Of You." I've been a fan of his for a couple of years and this song was always my favourite. It's nostalgic and romantic in just the right way.

Vibes4YourSoul - Dont Know What's Normal (TSTD Yacht Disco Edits 2)

Erlend is one of my favorite troubadour, his timeless melodies and subtle poetry are an all-weather vaccine for me, either through his solo works, his brilliant "Kings Of Convenience" duo, or his funkier "Whitest Boy Alive" formation. 
Here's a slo-mo DJ-friendly rework of his sunny ballad released last year with the talented Italian band La Comitiva, where you can almost feel the luminosity of his beloved Sicily.

Erlend Øye & La Comitiva - Paradiso (V4YS Estate Rework)

Written in 1969 in Roma by Chico Buarque and Toquinho, “Samba de Orly,” is a beautiful exile song. A melancholic message addressed by a Brazilian forced to flee to Europe, to a friend lucky enough to go back home to Rio. 
It's in fact an auto-biographic story in a heavy political context: in early 1969, under aggressive scrutiny by an increasingly repressive Brazilian dictatorship, Chico Buarque took advantage of a concert tour in Italy with Toquinho to effectively exile himself there temporarily with his wife. 
When Toquinho and Chico reviewed the final version of the song, their friend Vinicius De Moraes advised them to make the lyrics harsher and more clearly political to reflect the pain of life in exile. But Brazilian censorship refused the changes, and the song was released in Brazil with their original milder lyrics. Song title refers to Paris's Orly, as it was well known to the Brazilian audience, contrary to Roma's Fiumicino airport.

Fast forward to today, and I can't help thinking about Brazil current situation and regime, which evokes in several ways this dark dictatorship era. Let's hope all the wonderful artists in the country will not be forced to exile themselves as well. Here's my groovy take of the song, as a little hint of love and support to all of them :)
