In an instant, you’re surrounded by layers of African rhythm guitar, sharp brass and woodwind with the most infectious vocal chants. This really is Afro-Funk at its finest. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, @nat-barrera 's creative involvement with music began when he picked up the drums at the age of 12. In 2006, Nat moved to Montreal, Canada. He has been producing music ever since, and has been playing in renowned venues across the city and region. He has also shared his sound internationally, having repeatedly played in Europe, Middle East and Latin America. His distinctive sound matured into an eclectic yet balanced blend of electronic music, unique world music influences and a defined percussive rhythm. Over the years, Nat has had several releases and collaborated with many labels and collectives, like the renowned Bonzai Records, Grrreat Recordings/8Day, Noisefloor Records, and now with the all new powerhouse collective Cosmovision Records.

Eu Vou Torcer is a Jorge Ben song from his 1974 album A Tábua De Esmeralda. A spiritual anthem about peace, joy and unity. Some universal poetic words meeting his irresistible groovy samba style.  Here’s remix of the track, where I added a warm contemporary synths/electro orchestration, drums and percussions. A track I’d love playing  on a chill summer sunset DJ set, hope you will too!

The music of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, Togo, and Benin are perhaps best known for an extremely advanced drumming tradition, especially using the dundun hourglass tension drums. Yoruba folk music became perhaps the most prominent kind of West African music in Afro-Latin and Caribbean musical styles. Yorùbá music left an especially important influence on the music used in Lukumi practice and the music of Cuba. For a comprehensive discussion of Yoruba music, see Bode Omojola's book, Yoruba Music in the Twentieth Century (University of Rochester Press, 2012).
