Lane 8 Fall 2022 Mixtape

To me, the song evokes a wistful sadness with a touch of hope or tranquility, and I wrote it while contemplating the impermanent and relatively ephemeral nature of life; Be it our own short time on Earth, that of our loved ones, pets, the ephemeral nature of relationships and friendships, and our time in certain places or even the things we possess. They all come and go as life and time flows, and to me this song cherishes those fleeting moments and watches them flow on.

This is my first full piano track, played on my new Arturia Keylab 88 Mk II and using the German Classical Piano sound on Analog Lab V. I started the beginnings of the melody playing on a grand piano in the most beautiful villa in Tuscany.

Note: I left the left hand a bit basic as it repeats the same pattern throughout, mostly due to my own ability to play both parts accurately when recording. Somebody pointed out that it sounds like a consistent backbone in the song to symbolize the constant flow of life/time and I like that interpretation haha

Note II: There seems to be a bug on Analog Lab V that causes a click when a sound is cut short, most noticeable when the chord progression changes
