Review: While the resurgent Vibraphone may be known for its silky smooth deep house confections, the Italian label also has other interests guiding its musical policy. The seemingly unknown KNLB steps up to prove this on Initialize by serving up a rich and engrossing broth of tracks loaded with depth and detail. "Second Wind" takes on a slow breakbeat trip with lingering piano sprinkled on top, while "Apollo" comes on like a warm and energised twist on dub techno motion. "Initialize" heads for a more introverted kind of house, which Minimono then infect with a bouncy energy on their remix.

First up on the fresh Amsterdam-based label Late Night Burners is Kurley’s debut “Feelings EP”. For this young and very talented musician anything goes, as long as it’s unique, warm, rhythmic, and raw, and this five tracker perfectly showcases this ethos.

From the uplifting, acid-driven title track, we dive straight into “Heartbeat”, taking us a level deeper. On the B-side Kurley starts off with the stabby, slightly melancholic “Long Time” while never losing the floor out of sight, preparing us for the vocoder-infused killer “Groove All Night”. Closing off the EP is “Tribute”, bringing a more exotic type of heat. In short: a lot to love.

A heartfelt dedication to his son Isaias, ‘Aspirations for Young Xol’ takes us through the life of a pillar in the electronic music community - Santiago Salazar. From his formative years spent in California to his connection with Detroit and the passing of a childhood friend, the long-player’s tracks signpost the musician’s significant experiences, both positive and negative. This meaningful body of work was released digitally on Pastel Voids and now Rekids release the album on wax.

‘Saturated Fear’ sets a deep tone for the LP, flanging melodies and echoing claps float through the composition before the album’s title track ‘Aspirations for Young Xol’ offers haunting arpeggios with occasional acidic overtones which are cleverly offset by beautifully designed lead synth transitions. ‘Bloodlines’ follows a similar musical vein with delayed bass riffs that are suspended above shimmering hihats and a weighted kick.

Santiago provides three beatless pieces throughout, which digress into more emotional territory whilst offering brief respite from his heavier drum work. ‘Xol’s Pain’ combines orchestral strings and swelling synthesisers which build tension with a subtly complex, evolving motif. Both ‘Dark Matter’ and ‘Ode to Stinson’ use arresting atmospheres, warped arpeggios and ethereal pads which lull the listener into a retrospective mood.

An intensity builds in the later tracks, a gritty but powerful low end provides a solid foundation in ‘Orange Blossom Thump”, eventually making way for a hectic and elastic lead synth before ‘Pachuco Dub’ displays drones that build a dissonant pressure in which the complex tom rhythms and rolling hi hats can grow. ‘Sarah Rivera’ hypnotises with its delectable chord progressions and complimentary melodies which seem to float above a rigid drum composition to close the album with style.

Lisbon's Jorge Caiado has crafted an intricate and deep EP on his own Carpet & Snares label. We have the exclusive on the EP's only remix, by Spanish talent Sergio Moreira.

S.Moreira’s remix draws upon the much-celebrated minimal aesthetic of his Slow Life peers, skilfully turning out a timeless house journey. Best enjoyed with attentive listening, this 8 minute production is house at its most functional, but also at its very best.

From Berlin to Bangkok, Sense Of Sun is the founder and label head of Family Unit. While solely focusing on his music career, he has risen to prominence within the international club and festival scene. With influences in deep, minimal and classic house, he has a knack for producing tracks with hypnotic and dreamy textures. His latest EP on Palms & Flamingos 'Love Orion' showcases that talent. With Wyatt 6AM on Remix duties on his house track 'Love Structure', he transforms it into a minimal house track with a infections hi-hat pattern sequence, bouncy bassline, extraterrestrial melodics and a ninja like swooping sound looping in the background. 

'Love Orion' will be out on Beatport on March 25th, 2019.

Music Collective born during the dawn of the '90s, Vibraphone Records has interpreted the native House verb of Chicago & Detroit according to a vision steeped in electronics destined then to mark history. Seven vinyl in which is contained all the visionary approach of these Romans producers and DJ’s able to create angelic melodies and rhythms that can penetrate the soul of all listeners. These original recording are now considered rare collector items and sought after Pearls and they have raised the level of attention around these obscure artists which are now returning to the scene after a long pause.
Revitalized by an increasingly new young audience interest this label has reached a cult status and it is now been re-launched via Juno Records.
Vibraphone Records is now coming back with their first reissue of the mythological "The Bermuda Triangle” EP a 2 X 12”EP containing the analog re-mastered version of the original 6 tracks first released in 1992 plus 2 new bonus tracks.
This first release will be followed by a complete reissue of all the 90’s original catalogue and a load of new productions ready to surprise again with the perfect combination of rhythm and melody that gave birth to the legendary Vibraphone Sound.
