All kinds of Folk music: roots, indie, rock, Celtic, atmospheric, light, dark. I find it really hard to dedicate myself to one specific genre. 
    Ever since I was young I've wanted to learn the rules of music on my own, at one point I even considered looking at theory, scales, and formulas to be cheating. 
    I'm over that now, but I don't regret it one bit.

VIC ABRAM was born in the northern English mill town Preston in 1948. His grandfather was  a
Professor of classical music, at the time he was known as one of Britain's finest flutists and taught Vic clarinet as a child. Vic was however more interested in the late 50's and developing 60's popular music. He had to wait quite a few years before purchasing his first guitar, with his weekly earnings derived from his first job, at the age of 15, at WH, Smith & Son's.  In the early 60's armed with his dad's old 5watt radio, a Watkins Rapier Guitar and four chords he joined a local Beat Band "THE BONESHAKERS". The lead guitarist taught Vic how to play their repertoire of around 40 songs. After a short  while they were playing in youth clubs, Church Halls, Pub's and small Town Hall's. The Bone-shakers later Rasputin and the Mad Monk's, became popular with the local youth, unfortunately there success didn't last so long.This was due to the problem of Vic's radio blowing up at most gig's, which seemed to go down very well with the audience.  When the group fell apart, Vic exchanged his electric guitar for an acoustic model and gradually improved his playing. In the late 60's he was offered a job with a semi professional soul and pop band.He played tenor saxophone and guitar, doubling on vocals. The teenage band was very popular in the North West of England, and later managed by famous Cavern Club D.J. Bob Woller. Shortly after the Hammond Organist and powerful singer had to leave the band it unfortunately split up. Vic then became interested in the music of popular contemporary singer- songwriters of the time, which was strengthened by his regular visits to the late night acoustic sessions at "Les Cousins" Club in SOHO in LONDON. The idea of being a acoustic one-man band inspired him to start playing and sing in small folk clubs and pubs. Eventually this led him to his first gigs in Europe and consequently regular concerts at the international folk club in Hamburg, "Danny's Pan". At the same time as playing solo in clubs and bars he joined Hamburgs  cult Rock 'n Roll band "Franny and the Fireballs". In 1977 Vic started performing at larger venues, this led to his first concerts in Hamburgs famous music club "Onkel Po's" on Friday nights. At this stage in his career Vic had integrated many of his own songs and instrumentals into his mixed programme of 
folk, blues, ragtime,rock "n" instrumentals. His concert were sold out and a huge success. It boosted Vics moral enormously and led to many more gigs, also  larger venues, radio shows and as an opening act for many well-known international touring bands, and solo acoustic artists. Shortly after playing in Po's, in 1978, Vic was offered his first record deal for two albums, from EMI/COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL.  His first L.P. was released in 1979. Between 1979 &  1994, 12 record's + cd's, 7 mc's, diverse compilations and 2 book's, "Solo Instrumentals" & many diverse mixed cassettes. He has given many live concerts at venues and festivals in Europe and was a sought after acoustic guitarist. His solo instrumentals have been frequently used for film music. Vic has been a regular guest on German TV, often on children's show's singing his own children song's in the German language. He also moderated his own show on German radio "Folk Blues & Beyond. He was guest lecturer for acoustic steel string guitar at the "Hamburg Music College". On most of his records he is accompanied by his friend and legendary doublebass player Danny Thompson with band. The German and British press often acclaimed Vic as quote "one of the best British songwriters and acoustic guitarists, in the vein of Bert Jansch, Ralph McTell, Richard Thompson and John Renbourn ect, ect... (Tony May, "Folk Roots"/ June 1988 - Alexander Schmitz "Fachblatt"/ June 1987)... In September 1989 after over 20 years on the road Vic stopped touring and opened his guitar store "Guitar-Village" just off the Reeperbahn, Hamburgs red light quarter where the Beatles began in "The Star Club". Ten years later Vic sold his successful store to travel, after 7 years on the road he returned to Hamburg. Vic has recorded and released around 180-200 song's and acoustic guitar instumental's to date. He has written many more since he stopped playing and touring professionally as a Singer-Songwriter and Guitarist.

At the heart of the Trio is Silviu Ciulei, a guitar virtuoso who captures the passion of flamenco with the precision of a classical guitarist. He began classical training at an early age, soon winning prizes in national and international competitions, first in Europe and more recently in the United States. A family holiday in Spain first awakened his interest in Flamenco, and soon after, he moved to Cardiz, Andalusia--the heartland of Flamenco--and began several years of intense study. This experience led Silviu to form Tequila, the first of his Flemenco Nuevo ensembles, which gained national attention in his native Romania. Silviu is currently working towards his Phd in classical guitar performance under the tutelage of Bruce Holzman, Director of the Guitar Program at Florida State University, and competing in competitions around the U.S. 

David Cobb is the bassist for the Trio. He began his musical journey in the middle school brass section but soon was lured by the sound of strings and began teaching himself guitar and electric bass. This expanded his classical background into the American styles centered around these instruments: blues, rock, soul and jazz. David studied composition and classical guitar at the University of South Carolina and performed and recorded with numerous artists and ensembles, including J’Ouvert Steel Band, Israeli composer Ayala Asherov and P Funk keyboardist Danny Bedrosian’s bands Som’n Fierce and Secret Army. David fuses the feel of soul with a wealth of Latin American and Caribbean rhythms and the melodic sensibilities of Western Asia.

Rounding out the rhythm section, percussionist Ramin Yazdanpanah draws upon the sounds of the Outback, Silk Road and Caribbean. He plays the soulful and passionate rhythms of his Cuban-Iranian heritage on cajon, dumbek and a variety of other percussion instruments while showcasing his mastery of the didjeridoo. Ramin has performed and recorded with numerous artists in numerous musical genres, from classical, jazz and folk, to funk, Latin, and hip-hop.

The unique cultural and musical backgrounds of Silviu, David and Ramin create the high-energy and daring music of the Maharajah Flamenco Trio
