How To Love

“Chance Tonight” is the first collaboration between San Francisco-based musician/producer Iguazúl and Michigan-based singer/songwriter/producer Vicki Maldonado. After over a year of uncertainty, both Iguazúl and Vicki were eager to connect and collaborate. The pair met and collaborated exclusively online after being introduced through Frank Socorro’s monthly mix feedback sessions. This common desire led to the modern synth-pop track that brings dance back into the listener’s soul. 
“Chance Tonight” incorporates casino-type imagery with the concept of taking a chance on love. The fun, play-on-words, lyrics are spoken from a woman’s perspective as she has a conversation with herself. From her point of view, it’s time to “double down”, trust that “odds are on my side” and just “take a chance tonight” with the one she’s longing for. But it requires a lot of courage to take such a big gamble on someone. Does our girl place her bet?

Vicki Maldonado is a Michigan-based singer-songwriter-producer whose life struggles have inspired her to reach ever-higher heights. Her music pulls from radio darlings like Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, but also the classic rock and Latin music of her youth. Born and raised in Manhattan, NY, Vicki started at just 9 years old as a way to express herself and deal with childhood trauma. Maldonado quickly realized music was her passion. By the time she was 14, she got her own computer which kick-started an obsession with recording and producing her own music. 

 

After graduating from Five Towns College with a degree in audio engineering she interned at the legendary Platinum Sound Recording Studio. Life hit hard and though Vicki kept creating music, she often lacked the resources to get it out there properly. During the pandemic, she recommitted herself to music and started releasing a slew of singles, some of her best work yet! Heads were turning and all the right things seem to suddenly be happening for Vicki Maldonado and her dream of sharing her music with the world. Recently she’s seen a who spate of successes from radio play and interviews (Parlor City Radio), to winning third place in the Hit Like A Girl Beatmaking Contest and becoming a finalist for the LG's Life's Good Contest

 

Now, Maldonado is in the process of self-releasing a single every month. She’s self-producing most tracks, like her debut “Dreamin’ Tonight” and newest single "Evade" and has collaborated with producers on others, "Just Friends", "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy". It’s an exciting time for her as she pushes her work to the next level and to new audiences. Her story is one of resilience and seeking to find beauty even when it seems impossible.
