The Penny Black Remedy are a London based band renowned for their energetic live shows and for their unique musical fusion of many different genres, including Folk, Americana, Punk and Ska.

The combination of singer/songwriter Keith M Thomson’s distinct blend of darkly humorous lyrics and joyfully hooky melodies and the band’s high-octane stage antics have enticed and entertained audiences across the UK and Europe since the band’s inception (in London, 2004).

At the band's core is Scottish born front-man and guitarist Thomson and singer/percussionist, Marijana Hajdarhodzic, from Croatia. Keith & Marijana have been performing music together since 2006.

The band’s line up is a colourful and culturally diverse collective that includes; Jeremy Mendonca from California, USA, on bass guitar, acoustic guitar and vocals, violinist Basia Bartz from Poland and Jamie Shaw (from London) on drums.

Keith and Marijana also perform, tour and record TPBR songs as an acoustic duo (footage and recordings of which can be found on the band's website; www.thepennyblackremedy.com).

TPBR released their debut album, ‘No One’s Fault But Your Own’, in May 2009. The album includes many favourites from their live set, such as; Bring Back Brando, 95 Charing Cross Road, Don’t Count On Us, The First Time I Saw Angels and Come Back When You Have More Ambition. The album was released on their own independent label, Soundinistas, and is distributed globally by Cadiz Music.

The band released their much anticipated second album, ‘Inhale... Exhale... OK, Now You Can Panic!’ in July 2013 to rave reviews from the major music press including Q, Uncut, Rock’n’Reel Magazine, The Daily Mirror and Americana UK. The album includes two singles, ‘Some People Just Don’t Know When To Quit’ and ‘Up To My Neck In A Hex’, which was accompanied by their first promo video. Uncut said of the album "Festival folkies hit cross cultural sweet spot!", R2 magazine said "Stand-out track? All of ‘em – turn it up!" and Americana UK said "A boisterous riot of an album... It bursts out of the speakers, dances on the sofa, pogos into the kitchen, drinks all your beer and then boogies round your living room while laughing maniacally!".

The Penny Black Remedy released their third album, 'Maintaining Dignity In Awkward Situations' on 24th November 2017 and immediately garnered much critical praise from the music press. RnR Magazine gave the album a n early glowing 5 Star review, saying 'Lead singer and songwriter for The Penny Black Remedy, Keith M Thomson, is a genius. It is the strength of these genre-straddling songs that makes Maintaining Dignity In Awkward Situations a diamond shining bright amongst the wealth of Gypsy-tinged folk and country bands competing for our attention' and Americana-UK said of the album 'dark and delicious tales from the darkside'. The album was produced by Boz Boorer (Morrissey/The Polecats/Adam Ant) and Keith. It was preceded by the single, 'I'd Murder To Have You Back', which was accompanied by a video, filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The album was released by mono del mundo records and is distributed globally by Cadiz Music.

On the subject of TPBR's music, Thomson says: "The fact that most of the songs are about death, lost love, living in a constant state of crippling paranoid fear and/or coping with the daily grind of everyday life is irrelevant. Encouraging people to sing loudly and out of tune about the absurdity of general existence seems to instill a sense of comfort and emotional unity...I think."

The Penny Black Remedy continue to keep a busy schedule and will be showcasing material from their new album 'Maintaining Dignity In Awkward Situations' on tours of the UK and Europe throughout Winter 2017 into early Spring 2018. And they will be releasing the second single and video from their recent third album in Spring 2018 and plan to release their fourth album in Autumn 2018.

When I write music, I try to go on a journey to feel emotions, whatever they may be.  To me, music is a celebration of life; for all the pain and suffering we may endure, it is a gift to be alive.

Tο 2010 ηχογραφήθηκε ένα EP με 4 διασκευές που κυκλοφόρησαν δωρεάν στο διαδίκτυο.

Το 2011 κυκλοφόρησε την πρώτη προσωπική της δουλεια με τίτλο "Πατώματα βρεγμένα" με την δισκογραφική εταιρεία Onair music σε ένα ακουστικο-ηλεκτρονικό ήχο.

To 2012 κυκλοφόρησε ενα EP με 3 τραγούδια με τη αγγλική δισκογραφική εταιρεία passive front records με τον τίτλο "X-ray"

Το 2012 κυκλοφόρησε  ένα EP με 4 κομμάτια με τον τίτλο "Prophecy"

To 2013 κυκλοφόρησε ένα EP με 4 κομμάτια με τον τίτλο "Woodream" με τη Βρετανική δισκογραφική εταιρεία "Passive front records"
Την ίδια χρονιά έγραψε την μουσική για την ταινία "8" της σκηνοθέτη Χαράς Δέλα.

Το 2014 έγραψε τη μουσική για την ταινία μικρού μήκους της σκηνοθέτη Βενετίας Ευρυπιώτου με τον τίτλο "Might be"

Την ίδια χρονιά συνεργάστηκε με τον Σταμάτη Κραουνάκη μελοποιώντας τον στίχο του "Για τον Παύλο Φύσσα" , ένα τραγούδι αφιερωμένο στη μνήμη του Παύλου Φύσσα που δολοφονήθηκε απο Χρυσαυγίτες το 2013.

Το 2015 κυκλοφόρησε το 2ο της άλμπουμ με τον τίτλο "Red Soul" με συνολικά 9 ορχηστρικά κομμάτια σε δική της μουσική και ενορχήστρωση, μία διασκεύη στο τραγούδι του Σταμάτη Κραουνάκη " Αυτή η νύχτα μένει" το οποίο ερμηνεύει η ίδια και ένα ποίημα της Κικής Μαυρίδου "Μνήμη" το οποίο απαγγέλει η ίδια.

Συνεργάστηκε επισης με τη  συγγραφέα Αλκυόνη   Παπαδάκη (Λάθος τρενο) ,  με την ποιήτρια και ηθοποιό Κική Μαυρίδου στο ποίημα "Μνήμη" .

Απο το 2005 έως το 2017 εργάστηκε στον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό της Αθήνας "στο κόκκινο" ως ραδιοφωνικός παραγωγός και ηχολήπτρια.
Απο το 2017 εως το 2019 εργάστηκε στον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό της Αθηνας  "ραδιόφωνο 24/7" ως ραδιοφωνικός παραγωγός και ηχολήπτρια.

Έχει επενδύσει με την μουσική της διάφορα website, ντοκιμαντέρ και ταινίες μικρου μήκους.

Maria Panosian was born and raised in Cyprus. She’s been listening to music, composing and playing the piano ever since she can remember. 
She attended piano lessons for eleven years and in the meanwhile she learned to play guitar and percussions. 
She has been the lead singer of the band Elelef since 2005, but her career as a professional singer dates back to 1998. 
In 2007, Elelef released their first album and three years later they launched an EP with four cover songs. 
In 2011, Maria’s first solo album “Patomata Vregmena” was released by OnAir Music. 
In 2012 she released an EP with 3 songs with the title "X-ray" by Passive front records.
In 2012 she  released an EP with 4 songs with the title "Prophecy" 
In 2013 she  released an EP with 4 songs with the title "Woodream"  by Passive front records.
Ιn 2014 she composed the original music for the short film "Might be" of Venetia Evripiotou.
In 2015 she released her second solo album "Red Soul"

(2005-2017) She worked as a sound engineer at the Greek radio station “sto kokkino” 105.5, where she hosted her weekly show “What’s wrong is right” 

(2017-2019) She worked as a sound engineer and radio producer at the Greek radio station "radiofono 24/7" 
She has also been DJ-ing since 1993.
She has lent her music to websites, documentaries, theater and short films.
