Vic Spencer releases his 3rd record of the month during his Red Button Series entitled A Call from Belize. Over a smooth but rare Alchemist loop, Vic has a opportunity to keep it real with his rap opponents and with everybody that feels that they are good at it. The record starts off as what appears to be a call from Joe Grind, a Balizean MC and part-owner of The Grind House, a studio where Vic records weekly, about getting some work done and getting packages cheaper while he was down in his hometown. Then, the elite MC just pounds the beat with crazy bar-play with lines like "irritated so a nigga on a Bland Diet" and "slice half of ya body before tip-off" ...The Question: What goes on in Vic Spencer's mind? The Answer? It's actually left in the hands of the listeners.

Throughout Montreal’s history, few names ring out like Rufus Rockhead’s. Cultural pioneer and possibly the first Canadian black man to obtain a liquor license, Mr. Rockhead opened his eponymous jazz club "Rockhead’s Paradise" in 1928 on the corner of Mountain St. and St-Antoine Street in Little Burgundy. A landmark of Montreal’s "Sin City" era, a time when prohibition forced Americans to cross the border to get a snort, the club booked the biggest acts in blues and jazz from the 1930s to the 1950s. Establishing Montreal’s reputation as "Harlem Of The North", the institution supported local jazz artists, helping the likes of Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones get their careers off the ground. By it’s closure in 1980, the club had featured the talents of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Leadbelly, Nina Simone, Dizzy Gillespie, Sammy Davis Jr. and many more. This project commemorates a somewhat forgotten time of cultural explosion and ground breaking artistic movements that layed the foundation for the vibrant, creative and diverse Montreal we see today.
