Vic Spencer continues to go on a lyrical spew. Back at the Grindhouse with Doc da Mindbenda working on his 7th solo album, Vic always has extra time left after he works on the album. So Vic decides to dig in the crates for 3 beats: Don't Stop by Devin the Dude, Hold Up by Diddy & Love Today by Laws to create Boxing Grizzly Bears, a record that describes when Spencer is in the booth its the rap game attacking him due to his beliefs, his social environment & his genre of music.

It is believed that Vic Spencer is very competitive and can come off as anti-everything, he shows plenty of humor when he was asked about Boxing Grizzly Bears: "Art is the shit, man. It gets people wondering. It get the guys that have 'panties in a bunch' aroused. If you don't get people to observe your art, they may not look long enough. And Boxing Grizzly Bears is exposing that. (laughs)"

Vic Spencer has stories. He lets one go entitled Daily Bread, where Vic is in a tight situation with his cousin, who happens to be a guy from the street that can polly with rap celebrities. His cousin is trying to give Vic bread on a daily for his musical career to take it to the next level but Vic wants to get to success on his own. Although it's hard and tempting not to take the bread thats offered to him on a daily, Vic appreciated the offers that been given to him but Vic don't want to owe nobody nothing. 

"I owe my engineers and producers, which are the same people", Vic Spencer laughs while smoking with Doc da Mindbenda at the Grind House in Chicago. Doc loops Ain't The Devil Happy by Jeru the Damaja for Vic to go the Slick Rick route to tell us a story about how he is praying for his street brothers.

Vic Spencer is down with RUCKDOWN, a crew of MCs curated by the slumberg Sean Price. A few weeks ago, Vic went to Brooklyn to meet with the legend and they both went to Goblin Studios to record Distorted Views, a beat produced by one of Spencer's in house engineers/producers and GrindHouse partner, Doc da Mindbenda. 

"Working with one of my inspirations proves that I'm one step away", Spencer says posted at the GrindHouse with Doc and ILLeet, playing the records that was recorded in New York for Vic's solo album due in the 4th quarter. "First of all, Sean P fucks with Doc beats so it was immediate chemistry in the booth. I fuck with the love that NY has for Chicago MC's such as myself, because P could have worked or chose anybody else from here. But it's ME that he fucks with. Besides all the dope barplay and rugged beats, Price a real genuine dude."

Today, Vic Spencer feels free to release Non Factors, a record that was inspired by several tweets sent Spencer way by "non-factors" in the Chicago music scene. Vic sent a tweet out last week stating he was "the best lyrical MC from Chicago until proven otherwise", and then his notifications started booming by people that don't even matter musically.

"Look, I'm the best out this city and I wanted rappers to prove that my words were wrong", Spencer says aggressively. "When I said that, people that don't even rap/follow me on Twitter started to speak when they wasn't being spoken to. It's like they was bored and started to butt in, hahahha". 

So Vic took all of that inspiration then went to Grind House with Going Away, a beat by Budgie off Budgie & Alchemist beat tape, The Good Book to create Non Factors, reproduced by legendary engineer Doc da Mindbenda. Packed with incredible bars, It seems that Vic Spencer is very upset at his competition and will declare 'The Best from the Chi' until one of these top-tier rappers address him with proof that he's not. Guess we will have to see what happens from a response from whatever rapper that wants to step to the plate. 

"They too spooked", Vic added. 



Non Factors

Vic Spencer can't be stopped. 6 days ago the Old Fart released Non-Factors and now he's back with Bahs & Scahs, a record that displays Vic Spencer wearing his heart on his sleeve emotionally. The term Bahs & Scahs came from Vic's friend of 15 years, Fred "Free" Long, who grew up with Vic while both was in a group home's Independent Living Program. This record is slumped with so much emotion, its damn near hard to cry upon listening.

"I been through a lot in my life and people are not aware of it so I decided to show most of my pain through music", Vic explains. "I enjoy telling my story because its a real success and I hope this record bring people all across the globe close to me musically".

Bahs & Scahs came from Kenneth Whalum & Big K.R.I.T's Going Away and was revisited by the Loop God Doc da Mindbenda at GrindHouse Studios in Chicago. This record is Vic Spencer at his finest, using wordplay and deep dark voice to the max. The way Spencer say things can hit you hard at heart and to think that his music is going through "vertical integration", it's only going to get better business-wise. I've never heard Vic Spencer put words together and the rhyme pattern is very different on this record. Give this one a few spins and catch the wordplay. My personal favorite is "I feel like Im getting better/My lady's face is World Peace, I knew that when I Metta/Told myself I rather be real instead of pretend/Best in Chicago, let the hating begin".

While Vic Spencer is mixing Women's Bathroom, he orchestrated yet another mixtape 'Just Put this Shit OUT!' and the first single served is Feastmode that features Deadly Venom Henny B & Disappointed brother-in-rhyme Sulaiman. If you ever downloaded anything from Spencer's soundcloud page, you will see that it says Just Put the Shit OUT! in the Album column in your Media Player(s). Now Spencer recorded and released many records this way, but he said it will be all unreleased music, rapping over rare loops from the 90s-current.

"I never call my albums "mixtapes", Spencer says aggressively. "All of my projects are ALBUMS except for Vic Greenthumbs, that was my 1st mixtape. Now Just Put this Shit OUT! is my 2nd mixtape, which is coming soon. THIS is how you make a mixtape."

Last year, Vic Spencer had a campaign to get people ready for The Rapping Bastard called Red Button Series. Looks like he's geared to prepare that campaign again with brand new material.

Vic Spencer was listening to St. Louis native and the forever talented soul sensation Coultrain over Vic's good friend Black Spade production again and was inspired to create 24k Visuals pt. 2 over some simple but crazy production from DC. 

Picking up from where he left off from the head nodding and effective 24k Visuals, Spencer is found spitting the craziest bars known to man calling men WCW's, being safe wearing V chenille patches to cover his heart and sending lives to the abyss through UPS shipping services. That's a lot to discuss in one record but like always, Vic Spencer manages to make it all flow perfectly.

Vic Spencer was suppose to drop VicTree, a EP with MC Tree this month but it was push back to promote his 5th solo album entitled The Cost of Victory, which is slated to drop 12/15/14 on rappingbastard.com and iTunes. Just like Red Button Series last year, Vic plans to drop one or two records per week until Cost of Victory drops. The tsunami has arrived.

Vic Spencer is on a mission. To be better than rappers. And with the latest releases that he's been dropping, how would anyone deny him?

Today Vic releases Loop God, a record dedicated to his personal music work ethic on how he likes to dig in the crates for loops. He visits the infamous DC to create the masterpiece. First, he comes up with some crazy loop from a Jesse Boykins III record called Pantyhose and kills that then gets grimy with Common's record 7 Sins. The way this MC put words together is incredible and he leaves us wondering "why he isn't bigger than what he is?"

Vic Spencer is back with the trilogy 24k Visuals pt. 3 (The Last One) for the Red Button Series: Chapter II and it appears Spencer is once again inspired by St. Louis soul-sensation, Coultrain. A Coultrain sample appears on the other two 24k Visuals, but this song Love....Meaning seems to hit home more for Vic.

"I was in a real bad place when I first heard the Coultrain record back in 2008, straight up", Vic said as he confidently tells me about how why he put Love....Meaning as a intro. "Then I felt happy as fuck, I could have cried right there on the spot because of my love for the game, man. Love really lost a meaning and this record restored it."

Then viciously, Vic murders the intro to Anita Baker's My Angel that was looped by the infamous DC. It's so many crazy rhymes in this record. The man said 'While you was tryna overcome writer's block, I was in the booth spitting Rikers bars. Most of these niggas that got a fucking blue check should be a fucking brunette..' Pretty tough verbal affair on this record. He ends the record by adding Dwele's Frankly My Dear to ensure that he was done making 24k Visuals.

We should thank this man for the records that he been churning up for the streets thus far and believe he is going to do the same when his album The Cost of Victory which is slated to drop next month. Shine on, Vic. Shine on.

Love can make you do some crazy things.

Vic Spencer never stops working. Ever. Every week it feels like there is a new Vic Spencer song on the radar and this week is no different. From the Red Button Series: Chapter II comes the movie Bipolar Supremacy, produced by Rashid Hadee is a story all too familiar among men and women in the game of life especially entertainment life. Vic lays down nothing less than stellar bahz on this track, no theatrics, just straight storytelling. Painting a very vivid picture that is at times slightly cryptic, Vic tears this track down from start to finish. That's what real hip-hop fans want though, give a dope visual, tell a raw story over a killer beat. Bipolar Supremacy may or may not be Vic Spencer's true story but it's nothing short of accurate to someone somewhere. It's almost chilling given recent events in entertainment. Plug in and let Vic Spencer tell you all a cautionary tale.

Vic Spencer has trimmed the fat off just about everything as he gets busy over a vintage 9th Wonder beat that was made for L.E.G.A.C.Y. While we wait for The Cost of Victory to drop at the top of 2015, Vic has plans to drop more music before the year is out for the Red Button Series: Chapter II. Some people can't drop a record every week and be effective and consistent. So let's encourage everyone to trim the fat off what's not helping you going into the new year.

It's almost time for the world to witness two of the most prolific MCs from Chicago shake a planet (as Vic would say) with a EP entitled VicTree (Victory), which drops Tuesday 6/30. This Weed & Clothes should be able to hold us off, but when I spoke to Vic he told me that he's been holding this record for 3 years.

"Yeah, we recorded that at Tree crib 3 years ago in his living room", Vic says as he reflected on how him and Tree started recording together. "Tree always wants to record-he's one of the most hard working guys I know. Tree chooses the artist that he likes to do projects with and thats what VicTree is. Vic Spencer on a visit to soultrapville. It's so different than anything that I've dropped. But I remained myself the entire visit."

Today marks 3 years since Vic Spencer dropped The Walk Away Music, which solidified him to be one of the most lyrical Chicago artist the world has seen. To celebrate, he decided to drop Uppercut Facility, a gumbo pot with 4 of Alchemist beats from his latest beat tape called Retarded Alligator Beats and the classic Vic Spencer flow that has made him the MC that he is today: Street, Hardcore and his signature move: sending shots. I saw Spencer tweet to Alchemist that he had heard the new beat tape and it made his eyes watery and how he was going to make his own "The Myth", a record that Styles P did over 4 Alchemist beats off P's EP The Diamond Life. And that's exactly what he did.

"The Walk Away Music been my favorite album for a long time, THEN I made The Cost of Victory and now that's my favorite album", Vic says during a phone call about this Soundcloud exclusive. "I just want Alchemist proud. Can anyone get this record over to Alchemist?????? I want to really work with him, I know he's aware of the music so only time will tell", Spencer added.

Somebody please deliver Vic's message so I can see him make it big. He really deserves it, his time is next literally. He never let us down musically. Call the bus driver that gave that brutal uppercut to that girl and it went viral. Vic will be star in his own right regardless.

Yall really pissed this Chicago MC off this time. Vic effortlessly creates Dick Jerkins, a diss track sent directly to Mick Jenkins. These two artist was seen feuding during a Twitter conversation about a popular bar called East Room when Vic said "East Room is a place for re-fried groupies and niggas who stare at other niggas sneakers" and Mick took offense by saying "Vic Spencer always 'Cheddarbobbing' himself." Vic said he would 'ether Mick' musically. Then Mick went on a tyrant on Twitter saying "where are the Vic Spencer fans" and him and his fans targeted Vic for sharing his opinion. But this still wasn't enough for Vic to go to the booth and create a diss record. It was Friday when Vic saw a article written by The Smokers Club (the people who signed Mick) and they are really Vic Spencer fans.
Here is their statement: 

First and foremost, let me say that I truly fuck with Vic Spencer. He is one of the best emcees to come out of the Chicago hip hop scene in quite some time. I got into the whole Chicago underground scene when I first heard Mick Jenkins. I thought Mick was all that Chicago really had to offer when it came to my personal tastes in music. I was eventually proved wrong by an old friend of mine who put me on with Vic. If you have heard of Vic before, you will definitely get where I am coming from when I say that he has one of the rawest flows in the game right now and is really digging deep when it comes to what he’s putting into his music.

Vic then tweeted the link to Mick stating that 'the people that signed you fucks with Vic Spencer' and Mick felt the need to tweet some bars at Vic. Vic didn't say anything. Only thing Vic did was drive to the GrindHouse to record Dick Jerkins that next day. 

"This all happened because he talking about shit that he has no business talking about. That East Room tweet had nothing to do with him, I never dissed him", Vic said during a interview in Oak Lawn. "He running around acting like I'm not a beast but the people that signed him loves my shit though. STOP PLAYING WITH ME."

The 2 ended up at The Grind House with engineer Doc da Mindbenda that Saturday 10/27/12 recording what comes out to be 64th Floor. They spit 32 bars a piece equalling up to 64. Martin's chill flow and Spencer's flow pattern mesh well together as they continue to build on their musical/lyrical chemistry. In early 2011, Vic Spencer was working on his 1st "mixtape" Vic Greenthumbs, a 30-track mixtape that Vic constructed because he was turning 30 years old. Vic wanted to use loops of his favorite artists' records. The name Vic Greenthumbs is a alter-ego of Vic Spencer and the name came from his good friend Mani Baggz. Greenthumbs appears on almost every song, encouraging Vic to keep making records and push limits. One day, Vic was playing Vic Greenthumbs records in the studio and trying to figure out what was missing. Vic recorded a record called National Geographical. The beat from the record is from J*DaVeY entitled Trans off their EP called Evil Christian Cop. It was meant to be a solo record until he heard a record called 22 Offs by the now superstar Chance the Rapper. Vic had already had a relationship with Chance through the budding SaveMoney collective from 2007. So Vic reached out to Chance to come to the final studio session to slap a 24-bar verse on National Geographical. Then Vic Spencer drops the album Vic Greenthumbs on his 30th birthday. National Geographical was the most talked about record on the album so Vic & Chance shot the video at Brookfield Zoo with Rich Media (Richie Randall), his SaveMoney brothers and SUH member Pavy. It was the 1st time anybody has heard of Chance the Rapper outside of YouMedia and the Instrumentality group.
