Jika saja Kamarudin Simanjuntak pengacara keluarga Joshua mengalah menghadapi serangan buzzer-buzzer tim Sambo,  Jenderal Polisi yang menembak mati Joshua, sudah bisa ditebak akhir drama telenovela Sambo dan sahabat-sahabatnya yang juga pejabat-pejabat Kepolisian di level yang tidak sembarangan di republik ini. Pada akhirnya memang jenderal ini dihukum penjara dan dipecat tidak hormat oleh kesatuannya, namun yang menjadi catatan penting adalah tekanan publik yang besar agar kasus ini diselesaikan profesional oleh Mabes Polri. Tanpa tekanan itu, kematian Joshua hanya menjadi versi Sambo dan kawan-kawannya.

Afif, remaja yang ditemukan tewas dibawah jembatan kuranji mengalami banyak luka tidak wajar ditubuhnya usai ia dan temannya bersirobok dengan sekelompok polisi yang sedang patroli.  Lalu drama-drama mulai bermunculan, persis seperti Sambo dan kawan-kawannya bertingkah seperti aktor-aktor dipanggung Brodway. Seandainya memang Gusdur benar dengan ucapannya bahwa hanya dua polisi yang jujur di negara ini; polisi tidur dan Jenderal Hugeng, bagaimana mungkin kita percaya penegakan rust en orde sudah dalam ranah yang benar.
Maka adagium yang membuka teks ini ada benarnya; jika ingin perdamaian bersiaplah untuk perang.
