For the remaster, we didn't just "make it louder" - instead we spent some time reworking the guitars a bit, using a more modern mastering suite, and even bounced it to reel to reel Capture 914 tape to give it a bit more analog juice. The end result is one where we like both the original and this version, for different reasons. This version does sound a bit more "modern" and whole. The original has more of a lo-fi dare we say demo sound to it.

Phoenix Down started as our first attempt at using retriggers with the NES but rather early turned more into the epic ballad that now defines the song.

This is one of those songs we worked on off and on while working on others. We just kept having ideas for what we wanted to add into the song or how we wanted to change things around.

As the name implies, the song is about death and rebirth. It represents the pivotal climax of a hero who has returned from almost certain doom, empowered by strength to ultimately defeat the villain and do some serious ass-kicking.

Since 1999 I´m touring under the name Candie Hank which gives me the freedom to play all my different styles in a live+video performance. 

I released my Candie Hank Lps and Eps on the labels Shitkatapult, Gagarin Records, Wwilko, Sonig, Solnze Records from Russia, and also made remixes for people like Kap Bambino,  Mouse on Mars, Soom-T, Jean Jacques Perrey and many others..  

I also do music for art film, video games, theater, art installations.

Victim Cache was started in the summer of 2010 by John Quarles and Tim Soderstrom. We are an electro-indie band focused on trying to find new creative ways to integrate electronic sounds into music.
