On The List - [IVY] - ( Jubka Rmx )

The newest body of work from Genius Art inspired by his recent experiences of his personal life expressed through his gifts of sonic creations. The title of the project "Long Rides" comes from the wild, spiritual and even needed realizations/downloads that hit him while going on long car rides listening to his creations or sometimes complete silence. All of the rides he was coming from and/or leaving specific situations which inspired each production on this instrumental album.

I started writing these projects after my last breakup, but never really had the chance to work on it fully. Initially, I visualized this as an album but I started this in the midweek of December and gave myself a deadline of Valentine's Day. 

Creating this is such a rollercoaster of emotions, hence every line, chord, and beat was inspired by my burning desire to make this as a therapy.

When I ran away with the circus (for the second time) I made a load of songs for a show, some you have heard before but here are the finished versions for your aural pleasure x

Glastonbury, oh wondrous place of very well organised entertainment and pleasure. Wow wee, what a time I spent.

I sailed in on my orion boat as easy as cutting through cloth. I had enough supplies to last a week with Gin and Guinness a plenty. I built a small cosy nest lined with lilies and leopards lit with circles and squares and cosied up next to my fellow crew members awaiting the arrival of the rest.

As yet incomplete, the festival continued to grow around me, clothing itself with layer upon layer of increasingly sultry, intriguing, strange and wondrous outfits until finally, she threw her proverbial legs open for all (with fully functioning tickets) to enter at will.

Devoured by the grandeur, I wandered soaking in the splendour but never jumping into far…for I had a job to do.

And oh dear, the spectacularity that is our show was fraught with disaster. A dress rehearsal just too short to ensure safety, last minute changes, a sick performer…will they perform or won’t they? Will the gut wrenching, heart busting last two months of furious work & reharsals, forsaking all others, have been worth it?

“To the healing fields, fair maiden…”

And all was well. The show received a standing ovation from one corner on one day and played out to thousand of excited eyes throughout the whole sun-shiney weekend. A job well done, with footage still to come.

Waiting For You

Vieka Plays (:vee-e-ka p-l-aa-ys). Born, will die. A female singer-songwriter-electronic-fiddler-producer-engineer currently residing in the fair lands of Manchesterville, UK. Inspired and nourished by music and sound.

 Vieka plays her music full frontal, sometimes delicate, sometimes brash but always dedicated to the senses. Alikened to Björk, Portishead with a dash of Cocorosie, Vieka moves through you in a whirl of challenging stories and sounds created by all manors of electronic geekery that can be harnessed, beated and whipped into shape. 

...'Combining sonic brutality, unfettered on-stage physicality, never-quite-reassuring periods of calm and moments of breath-taking spectral beauty'...'Ostensibly an avant-garde musician in the Portishead/Björk mould mould, Vieka’s beguiling live performances set her apart from other experimentalists.'
 … 'Their live concerts can veer from dubstep mood-pieces to eerie swing narratives and sexual psycho-dramas all with an underlying Burial-style-soundtrack-David Lynch intensity'... 

With a lustful desire for the wild world, Vieka weaves through all manner of sounds; blending, warping and creating impassioned soundscapes with subtle sound recordings from nature, life and the wide-wide world. Obtuse creations of synthesised bass, glitch noise and samples come from deep within the digital spectrum while the vocals cut through unabashed.

'With a tongue stuffed thoroughly in her cheek she blissfully hovers her sound in the darker sides of life (or hoovers her music up from the filthy corner of the proverbial room).'
