[TN022] Nørbak - Marah EP

The rapidly rising star that is Nørbak, started releasing music only little over a year ago but hasn’t stopped since. The Portugal born producer, just 21 years old yet, now drops his debut EP, ‘Marah’, on The Nursery series, containing two originals and two remixes by no other than Farceb (ARG) and Moddullar (PT).

Nørbak’s two original tracks are simply called ‘Marah I’ and ‘Marah II’, no nonsense titles that are very much in line with the productions themselves. The opening track is a carefully assembled loop, topped off with merely hisses and rattles, which sounds simple but is actually executed very effectively. ‘Marah II’, although being slightly dreamier than its predecessor, continues in that same style where every sound serves its purpose.

That, in combination with a more aggressive remixes by Moddular, a familiar face with Dynamic Reflection, and Farceb, make this a truly versatile EP that will probably see lots of dancefloors this summer.

Nørbak - Marah I (Farceb Remix)

A little more than 2 years ago, labelhead honchos Paul & Dave released their “Nobody is Anywhere EP” on their own imprint Dynamic Reflection. It was a statement about the status quo in the techno scene back then, where many artists didn’t know which way to go. Ironically enough, the contrary is very true as we speak.  

 The “Anybody is Nowhere EP” responds to their previous work and reflects the uncomfortable time we are currently living in, driven by uncertainty. Even though these are not the happiest thoughts, the track titles show that there is hope left. “Emergence” is a very seductive but psychedelic trip towards “Discharge”, which feels like Abstract Division discharges themselves completely. The last track, “Polarise” points out the current divided society, which sets some doubtful thoughts about the future.  

Scandinavian rebel and Northern Electronics patron Anthony Linell provides his interpretation of the track “Emergence” and delivers a distinctive remix as only he can.

Colomboi inició su andadura como DJ en la capital colombiana desde donde se mudó a Londres por un tiempo, lugar en el que aprendió a producir, y encontró así el sonido que le interesaba. Class 1990, Viels was born in a little city outside Milan (Italy). Early in his adolescence he discovered techno culture inspired by a book called “TECHNO“ by Christian Zingales. Having released his first Ep on Initial Berlin in 2015, Viels continued his musical path appearing with a track on the well respected dutch imprint Dynamic Reflection, followed by his debut ep “Distrophism” and contributing for the 10 years anniversary of the label, among some of the most recognised artists in the scene : Donato Dozzy, Mike Parker, Shifted, Oscar Mulero, Blawan, Ness, Jeroen Search and many more. 
Co-owner with Francesco della Sala of “End Of Perception”, Viels just released on label such Warm Up, Non Series, Semantica Records,Mord, Edit Select and Dynamic Reflection.
Currently resident at the well known Acquario party in Milan and with an increasing interest and having performed in quality line-ups around the globe, with the likes of Reeko, Oscar Mulero and Dasha Rush to name a few, Viels is establishing himself as part of a new wave of djs and producers approaching the contemporary techno scene.
