Serotonin is a monoamine neurotransmitter. Known as the “happy hormone”, it is responsible for modulating mood, cognition, reward, learning, memory, sexual activity, feelings of well-being, and happiness. 

This hormone impacts your entire body. Serotonin also helps with sleeping, eating, and digestion.

You cannot directly get serotonin from food, but you can get tryptophan, an amino acid that’s converted to serotonin in your brain.

Exercise, especially aerobic, triggers the release of tryptophan into your blood, time to start roller skating or simply get up and dance. A generous amount of sunlight or a loving massage will also help increasing your serotonin levels.

Endorphins consist of a large group of peptides and they are produced by the central nervous system and the pituitary gland. They act on the opiate receptors in our brains, therefore they reduce pain and boost pleasure, resulting in a feeling of well-being. Endorphins are released in response to pain or stress, but also during other activities, like eating, exercise, or sex.

Four types of endorphins are created in the human body. They are named alpha, beta, gamma and sigma endorphins.
Beta-endorphins are the most powerful.

The word endorphin comes from putting together the Greek words “endogenous,” meaning from within the body, and “morphine,” which is an opiate used to reduce extreme pain. In other words, endorphins are natural pain relievers.

NEKYIA : A mix made for Odyssia Festival 2016

Nekyia is a cult practice that comes from Book 11 (Ραψωδία Λ’) of the ‘Odyssey’. In order to figure out how to return back to Ithaca, Odysseus was instructed to make a journey of a very different kind. On this journey he would find his way to the Hall of Hades and make a sacrifice so that "the countless shades of the dead and gone" would "surge around" him. Then, the souls of the dead would give him the answers he sought. 

A nekyia (ἡ νέκυια) is a "rite by which ghosts were called up and questioned about the future”.

The oracle said:  “You will find your Ithaca, your inner peace, in a united world. Where the race will be simply called “human”, “music” will be your universal language and people will communicate from the heart. There are no discriminations at the Hall of Hades.” 

Nekyia mix is a sound ritual and a musically narrated Odyssia journey through different kinds of music, inspired from different places, cultures and elements of planet Earth.

The soothsayer cries about the end of an era, the black celebration, the platinum jubilee, the homage to the madman, the dive to the darkness of the depth-less present and the very forgotten form of worship.

Dopamine is a chemical messenger between neurons, which is released when your brain is expecting a reward. Even if only anticipating an activity that is associated with pleasure, it can raise your dopamine levels. That’s why it is known as the “feel good” transmitter.
 
Dopamine is essential in controlling a person’s movements and plays a vital role in emotional responses. Brain functions that affect mood, motivation, attention, sleep, memory, learning, concentration are linked to dopamine sufficiency.
