Serotonin is a monoamine neurotransmitter. Known as the “happy hormone”, it is responsible for modulating mood, cognition, reward, learning, memory, sexual activity, feelings of well-being, and happiness. 

This hormone impacts your entire body. Serotonin also helps with sleeping, eating, and digestion.

You cannot directly get serotonin from food, but you can get tryptophan, an amino acid that’s converted to serotonin in your brain.

Exercise, especially aerobic, triggers the release of tryptophan into your blood, time to start roller skating or simply get up and dance. A generous amount of sunlight or a loving massage will also help increasing your serotonin levels.
