On the afternoon of April 19th, 1943, the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann dropped acid, and rode his bike home. Hofmann, who worked in the pharmaceutical department of Sandoz Laboratories in Basel, had first synthesized LSD in 1938 while trying to create a stimulant to treat respiratory and circulatory problems. He had no idea the compound had psychedelic effects, and it yielded no visible results when tested on sedated animals, so he set it aside.

Five years later, Hofmann decided to revisit his creation. On April 16th, 1943, he synthesized another batch of LSD. This time, he accidentally absorbed a tiny amount into his skin, and sank into “a not unpleasant intoxicated-like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination.” He decided to experiment on himself with an intentional dose to confirm the compound’s effects, and at 4:20pm on April 19th, he ingested 250 micrograms of the chemical. He soon realized that the trip was going to be intense, and asked his assistant to help him get home. 

Wartime restrictions prohibited cars on the streets of Basel, so they had to bike — which is why April 19th is now known around the world as Bicycle Day.

The peaceful ambience of the nebulas comes to an end with the onslaught of glitch and sustained bass as heavy as the starship. Welcome to a futuristic candyland with giant melting jawbreakers, rainbows, waterfalls, spaceships, and time machines.

"We started working on "Sugar Portal" shortly after the RENEGADES OF LIGHT album came out. We met for the first time on stage at Camp Bisco during the LSDREAM set and I recently had this idea inspired by a video of a giant melting jawbreaker! Anyone who has seen my recent sets I'm sure has heard this tune. It has become a staple of the Space Rock Tour this year with BITSKY! I'm really happy to release this one under my own label 5th Dimension Sound. It represents the idea that magic will always exist in the Universe!”

Vincent Antone (full name Vincent Antone Seidl) is an American producer and recording artist based in Austin, TX. He is a multi instrumentalist; playing guitar for over 20 years, Drums for 15, and Piano and Bass for 10. He has produced music for over 8 years now and has found a passion for combining elements of Dance music with all sorts of genres. His style runs from Future Funk, Hip Hop, Future Bass, House, Trap, and everything in between. His music is boundless, you can expect the unexpected, and because of this, there is something for everyone. 

No stranger to the festival circuit and clubs, Vince has performed at many notable events in his music career. These include: Austin City Limits Festival, Kaaboo San Diego and Dallas, Summer Camp, Wakarusa, Gem & Jam, Euphoria fest, Waterloo fest, Breakaway fest, Utopiafest, Art Outside, and many others. He has opened for Artists such as: Pretty Lights, Steve Aoki, STS9, Gramatik, RJD2, Goldfish, Opiuo, EOTO, Cherub, Herobust, The Nappy Roots, Max Frost, Exmag, and many more.

Vince is also a member of future funk group Resonant Frequency, as well as the rock and roll group Mamafesta.
