Even as a child, I searched for ways to make great music sound even better...
While I've always loved all types of music, my focus switched in 1997 after seeing a music video for "Setting Sun" by the Chemical Brothers on MTV. I was instantly captured by this musics ability to improve mood and boost energy...
After playing the CD until every beat, sound, and word were memorized, It was time to expand...My music collection slowly grew to include such artists as Moby, The Crystal Method, Daft Punk, and even such genre bending artists as NIN, KMFDM, and Prodigy...
While some considered this music "repetitive", the complex rhythms and melodies in these tracks said more to me than cheesy pop lyrics ever could...As my taste slowly followed its natural path into house and trance, so did my urge to become more interactive with the music I loved so much...It was than that I picked up my first mixer...
After learning the basic fundamentals of mixing, I focused on tweaking my mixing style to separate my sets from the rest...My unique Song selections, willingness to experiment with new mixing techniques, smooth set progressions, and ability to read a crowd have helped me quickly advance through the local club scene...
In 2009, I got the opportunity to share my love of mixing with live crowds for the first time...
Still early in 2011, I've now mixed for crowds of 1000+ people at some of Long Islands hottest house music venues such as Nicos: Gatsby Mansion, The Rare Olive, Nevele, 620 Lounge, Karma, Venue 56, Coliseum, Nisen, and Indigo (Blue), Pacha NYC, Silk, Bleu Lounge, and even the famous Governors Island..Alongside such greats as Theo, Chus &amp; Ceballos, Oscar G, Jonathan Peters, and Danny Tenaglia...
One thing I've learned playing for these larger and more selective crowds, next to such great artists, is that mixing ability and passion for music are nothing without the ability to read the dance floor...
With continued support from friends, and a steady progression in skills and experience, I will keep my sights set on better gigs in which I can spread my love of music to larger crowds, at even bigger venues...
