Selamat datang! Welcome thanks for tuning in=). This is the 6th mix of the Podcastmix series based upon my Moluccan roots.
Sharing a part of the background aswell & exploring my roots. 

This mix portrayes the feel of homesick, something my grandfather had during his lifetime. Due the fact being forced leaving Ambon for his safety aswell for his entire familly. 
After the fall of the Dutch rule over the East-Indies on the 27th of December 1949. Aprox 2000 Moluccas were shipped to The Netherlands to protect and prevent them being captured by the Japanese Regime. At that time Japan had taken over the controll and rule over Indonesia. The background story can be found in the 1st Moluccan-Roots podcastmix series.

My grandfather lived with his familly at Ambon-Nusaniwe a district/town close to the shore of Banda sea in the pacific ocean.
Ambon is a small Island in the southearn part of the Moluccan between the Islands Buru & Ceram.

Unfortunatly didn't got the chance to meet him in person as he passed away too soon at an early age in 1984 long before i was born. But by stories and insights of my Moluccan side of the family. It was clear to me that the subject of leaving Ambon was a closed book. 
Would've really wanted to know how it was and hear his story and memories of it. To get to know more about my roots. 
But he kept his pain and memories to himself and never wanted to talk about the subject ever again, as my Aunts&Uncles said when the question came up. 

My quess is that he wanted to keep his pain & missery hidden. Just so that he could be there strong for his familly with the mentallity of life goes on and start a new chapter of his life here in The Netherlands. Even though he never felt at home but adapted and excepted the situation.

After the liberation of Indonesia, He visited his homecountry two times. At the last trip (his condition was already declining) he couldnt hold it in and said he finally felt at home again there at Ambon-Nusaniwe. Soon after this 2nd visit time&vacation at Ambon my Granddad passed away in '84.

This mix is in memorial and ode to my Granddad. Calling it Pulang [Pulang/ /// /Means " going" home].

About – Vincent Montoya
Vincent Montoya developed a great passion for techno music at a very early age. Growing up by the Baltic Sea, the rough and gentle sides of the sea are reflected in his track selection and mixing. He chooses his tracks carefully. He packs them with emotion, openness, sensitivity and skillful mixing into sets that capture the intimacy of the moment in front of an audience, in a club or at a festival. His mostly very long, rough and raw austerity and at the same time never-ending driving, pulsating, grooving and hypnotic textures reflect his open and creative understanding of techno as a musical style and as a lived culture. With the diversity of his tracks and his boundless understanding of art, he creates a fluid plasticity that diffuses boundaries and creates a new space without merely playing in it. At the same time, his more compressed and shorter sets don’t lack either impulsiveness nor creativity. Nevertheless, he always takes a step back and puts the sound in the foreground, which is gratefully accepted by the audience.
Vincent Montoya has over 20 years of professional DJ and event experience. This know-how is reflected in his excellent reputation and has already been successfully administered at his own events as well as been highly valued at numerous bookings for events, bars, clubs and festivals.

Vincent Montoya entwickelte sehr früh eine große Leidenschaft für Techno. Aufgewachsen an der Ostsee spiegeln sich Rauheit und Sanftmut des Meeres in Trackselection und Mixing wieder. Behutsam wählt er seine Tracks. Verpackt sie mit Emotionen, Offenheit, Sensibilität und einem gekonnten Mixing in Sets, die die Intimität des Moments von Publikum, Club und Festival einfängt. Seine zumeist sehr langen, von rauer wie schroffer Strenge und gleichsam von nie enden wollender treibender, pulsierender, groovender und hypnotischer Textur geprägten Sets spiegeln sein offenes und kreatives Verständnis für Techno als Musikstil sowie als gelebte Kultur wieder. Mit der Mannigfaltigkeit seiner Tracks und dem illimitierten Verständnis von Kunst schafft er eine fluide Plastizität, die Grenzen diffus und einen neuen Raum entstehen lässt, ohne ihn nur zu bespielen. Gleichwohl lassen seine komprimierteren und kurzen Sets nichts an Impulsivität und Kreativität vermissen.
