“I Can Do It EP” consists of two hard-hitting, visionary originals and a fantastic remix. The title track is an explosion of emotions and grooves. Its wild percussive work, wicked synths and intense groove sucks you right into the ecstatic vibe that Speaker Honey is so known and loved for. 

Our favourite darlings from The Glitz have taken on the remix-duty, and you know it is going to be a heavy bassline when these two guys get behind the synths. Along with driving hi-hats and wonderfully twisted elements from the original you are lead into an intense meltdown of a break preparing us for that oh-so-naughty drop. 

Last, but definitely not least, Speaker Honey takes it to another energy level with “This Is The Night”. This rave-monster kicks off with massive synths and a rough drum work that is destined to set the dance floor on fire. Her little elements of groove surprises will bring a smile to your face while you throw your arms out and let yourself drift away into a sweat-driven club night.

Speaker Honey - I Can Do It (The Glitz Remix)

And we are back with our second SNOEflakes of the year, the lucky SNOEflake nr. 13! This little groove-loaded package is exactly what you need for the summer. First off, Lars Moston is joining the SNOEfamily with his incredible tune “Where We Breathe”. This is a fierce track that shakes the ground with its one-off powerful and bouncy bassline. Lars puts his unique skills to work, serving us a driving groove, rough vocals and popping synths. It is the perfect statement track for the club. 

Secondly we are very excited to welcome back our dear friend Boneb to the label. This master of grooves serves us his new track “Get Dirty” with tons of coolness. In classic Boneb-style, the track carries a heavy bassline and perky percussions that push and pull along the vocal elements. It is a tune packed with attitude and grit, just as we like it.

The itchy seventh year can obviously do no harm to Chris Tietjen. With his usual aplomb, the 27-year-old DJ from Frankfurt compiles the gems of the last twelve months of Cocoon Recordings into a fulminant tour de force, and once again, it's not until this 77-minute-long overall picture that it becomes clear how many superb club moments have accumulated in the Cocoon record case in the past year.
Of course, Maetrik's dark and deep particle house "Crush On Me" plays a significant role here, but also Nick Curly's analogue bass-driven hi-energy attack "Sun City" was ranked quite high in last year's reader's charts in Groove Magazine. Besides that, we find Pele's Dub Tech monster out of Rosenheim ("Nothing Else"), the thrilling rework of Guy Gerber's classic "Timing" by the two Athens-based DJs Kassey Voorn and Pete McCarthy, Dinky's surprisingly dirty and song-like declaration of love from the K compilation ("Lovin") and, of course the Ibiza anthem 2011 by Boys Noize ("Adonis") can't be ignored here, too. Tietjen's special DJ quality is once again obvious in his habitually unpretentious DJ mix that nevertheless always has the arc of suspense in focus and respectfully leaves the tracks the compositional air to breathe but gives you the final kick right through the combination of the tracks. And this is exactly the reason why the whole-blood DJ Chris Tietjen has turned from a promising newcomer from the Rhein Main area to one of the most formative DJs in Europe over the last seven years.

Das verflixte siebte Jahr vermag Chris Tietjen nichts anzuhaben. Gewohnt souverän packt der 27-jährige Frankfurter DJ die versammelten Juwelen der letzten zwölf Monate bei Cocoon Recordings zu einem fulminanten Parforceritt zusammen, und wieder einmal wird erst in dieser 77-minütigen Gesamtschau so richtig klar, wie viele grandiose Clubmomente da im Hause Cocoon im vergangenen Jahr zusammenkamen. Maetriks düster-deeper Partikel-House „Crush On Me“ spielt dabei natürlich eine herausragende Rolle, aber auch Nick Curlys analog-bassbetonte Hi-NRG-Attacke „Sun City“ wurde in den Leser-Jahrescharts 2011 des Groove Magazins zu Recht hoch gehandelt. Mit dabei sind außerdem Peles Dubtech-Monster out of Rosenheim („Nothing Else“), die spannende Überarbeitung des Guy Gerber-Klassikers „Timing“ von den beiden Athener DJs Kassey Voorn und Pete McCarthy, Dinkys überraschend dirty und songgeneigte Liebeserklärung aus der K-Compilation („Lovin“) und natürlich darf die Ibiza-Hymne 2011 von Boys Noize („Adonis“) ebenfalls nicht fehlen. Die besondere DJ-Qualität Tietjens zeigt sich aber wieder einmal in seinem gewohnt unprätentiösen und dennoch stetig den Spannungsbogen im Fokus habenden DJ-Mix, der den Tracks respektvoll die kompositorische Luft zum Atmen belässt und dennoch erst in der Kombination den entscheidenden Kick setzt. Und genau damit schaffte es der Vollblut-DJ Chris Tietjen in den vergangen sieben Jahren vom vielversprechenden Rhein-Main-Newcomer zu einem der prägendsten DJs Europas.

20 years in the game is an achievement worth celebrating,  particularly in the fickle world of underground dance music. DJ Clé and Mike Vamp have both left an indelible mark on the culture, both individually and as the Märtini Brös.  

To celebrate, the pair have commissioned a number of remixes for some of their most well known work, and this EP showcases some highlights. 

The Butch remix of 2004’s electro-clash-tinged Big and Dirty is a suitably energetic affair - firing percussion and a restless, edgy beat propel the track forward. The iconic vocals by Eric D. Clark feature strongly, wrapped around a sick acidic synth. 

Flash appeared on their debut album 'Pläy' in 2002 and is one of their biggest hits. Here it gets remixed by the Kompakt legend Michael Mayer - his 606 remix is a deep, rolling affair for the house heads, bringing a few new levels to the original from 2001. The instrumental mix sets aside the vocals for maximum dancefloor focus. 

Babyhaze first dropped in 1999, and here is remixed by tech-house legend Mathias Kaden. The track is given a 2019 overhaul, 
spicing up the groove in the signature style of the German DJ and producer.

When it comes to records Vincent Thomas knows both sides. In most producers’ biographies there is a straight line from spinning records to producing records. In his case it’s different: Vincent had his hands at the production controls as well as on the turntables.

The Producer
"Shingaling" evolved from an underground club track to an international chart hit in the course of only a few weeks. For Vincent Thomas, who produced the track jointly with Jean Claude Ades, this is the final breakthrough: “Shingaling” was #1 in the German Club Charts, #1 in the Belgian dance charts, the Italian Dance & sales charts, and (even for four weeks) at the top of Beatport.com. The Original Mix of "Shingaing" was the best selling Electro House Track on Beatport.com in 2008 and nominated for the Beatport Music Awards as "Best Electro House Track in 2008" (#2). In the German Dance charts "Shingaling" reached #3 and #6 in the Dutch Nieuwe Top 40 singles charts. The song has been published in seven countries by different labels: Great Stuff, Ministry of Sound, Vendetta, Frenetic, Blanco y Negro, Ego, NEWS.


Various singles and remixes have been licensed for the following compilations: "Love Parade 2008 - Highway to Love Compilation", "Viva Rotary Club Summer 2008", "Pacha Ibiza 2008/2009", "Clubbers Guide to Ibiza 08", "Ministry of Sound Bites Summer Club 2008" and many, many more.

Even though chart performance is not his benchmark for success and he doesn’t adjusts his production work to that, Vincent rejoices it as a form of appreciation. Being in the Beatport Top 100 with "Heureka" and "If I Had Known This Before" in 2010 was a welcome confirmation.

In SWINGS, a sub-label of Great Stuff Records, Vincent had found a record company with the same philosophy as he represents himself: to create good, successful club tracks. 

After numerous remixes for acts like Jerome Isma-Ae, Jean Claude Ades, Tom Novy, Paul Harris on labels like Ministry of Sound, Cr2, Armada, Swings, Harem, Ultra and Kontor, Vincent Thomas was able to definitively establish himself in the music scene.

Letting real musicians, a 15-member Cuban band, re-record an old Latin Jazz hit instead of just using a sample of the original song, was an unusual approach, Vincent admits. “Sometimes it's better to leave the well-trodden tracks.”

One of the decisive factor was not least the support of acts such as Groove Armada, Eric Morillo, Pete Tong, Fedde Le Grand & Funkerman, Tiger Stripes, Djuma Soundsystem, Deetron, DJ Chus & David Penn, Agoria and Tim Deluxe, who played "Shingaling" again and again. "That remains, even in times of the Internet, the foundation for success," Vincent Thomas is convinced.

The DJ
“DJing has to be performance”, reckons Vincent Thomas and adds: “For me, DJing isn’t just putting on one record after the other.” Due to technical evolution the role of the DJ has changed more and more to being an entertainer and performer.

His mixing style reflects his approach towards music and production: “Diversified, but consistent with a concept.”

Combining different styles of electronic music from all over the world in order to conceive a coherent, danceable sound – that’s how Vincent describes his method of operation. House and Techno magazine “Partysan” declared his style “Electro House at it’s best!”.

That’s why Vincent doesn’t stuff his case with music from only one style but with a rich variety of records from Club House via Electro to rather tech-housy, progressive sounds. That implies not to follow an already falling trend yet to trace current sounds and having tomorrow’s sounds already in his DJ case.

Vincent is constantly playing impressive shows around the globe as well as big venues like the Loveparade. For the Loveparade in the city of Dortmund (2008) and Essen (2007), Vincent was DJing at “Rocker und Freunde”, an after-show party presented by the renowned radio station 1LIVE and played with acts such as Fedde le Grand, Paul van Dyk. Bad Boy Bill, Moonbootica, Lexy & K-Paul.
The interest in Vincent's unique DJ-shows and uplifting productions keeps on growing. Be prepared for a few surprises!
